I thought you wasn't allowed to flush mid flight?

unloaded when landing, possibly no longer happens in America as your effluent may require tagging or a visa.

basically big hoses are used to excuse.. ahem... download it from the aircraft to vehicle towed septic tanks.

p.s. travelled Scandinavia in the 1990`s by train, when you flush the toilet there you can see the stones and gravel of the rail track.

Nothing is flushed from an airplane while in flight. It is self contained in tanks and removed when the plane lands at an airport.

On a very rare occasion, a leak will develop and accumulate on the fuselage of the aircraft, freeze and then drop to the ground as the plane is preparing to land because the air temperature has warmed allowing the green ice to leave.

Mark
I think it is stored in a tank in the plane

Pappy
Vaporises.

braveheart
it goes into the sea.

IT is stored in a type of tank during the flight and pumped out when the plane is at the terminal.

Stored until the aircraft lands, then offloaded into trucks.

Consider this: If the plane is pressurised due to the altitude you are flying at, what would be the effect of opening a trapdoor in the toilet to let the contents escape? I suggest you might follow the effluent out of the aeroplane!
Oooh, messy.
I'm sure if all new trains built now have retention tanks then aeroplanes would do the same.

it goes into a storage tank untill it can be unloaded when they land

Winnie
Don't know! I guess it gets frozen solid on its way down. One almost gets sucked out when the toilet flushes. I can never get used to the sound.
