What is a non-stop flight?

A non-stop flight is one that goes from one city to another without stopping in between. For example, say you are going from New York to Los Angeles. A non-stop flight would take off from New York and land in Los Angeles.

A connecting flight means you stop and change planes somewhere en route. For example, you would go from New York to Chicago, and then get on a different plane from Chicago to Los Angeles.

And a direct flight is still different - you make a stop but do not change planes. For example, you would go from New York to Chicago, but you would stay on the same plane and continue on to to Los Angeles without changing planes - just stopping.

A one-way flight would be just going from New York to Los Angeles. That's opposed to a round-trip flight, where you would return from Los Angeles to New York. A one-way flight could be non-stop, direct, or connecting.

That's actually a very good question, because all flights stop at least once, theoretically, there is no such thing as a non-stop flight. However, the term is used for a flight that does not stop between where you depart and your final destination.

a non-stop flight is where you don't stop anywhere. and a one way trip is where you get a ticket going on way.

A non-stop flight is when you go from, say LAX to Kennedy without a stop over in another city.

KUL > LAX

transit:
KUL > HKG > LAX

see the different??

while transit from KUL go to HKG and then go to LAX...

The Cutting Edge

The fact is there still flights with several destinations that airlines and a major city would be the on the board. (not a non-stop) If an airline just goes there then that is the non-stop without any other stops en route. However with hub flights with shorter destinations that is not the same. An example would be New York-Los Angeles without anywhere in between (non-stop) on the flight. No changing of airlines or people getting on or off like in the situation of flights that are not non-stop.
