What is it like to ride in an airplane?

Riding in an airplane is alot like riding in a car really. Most of the time the little bumps and vibrations you feel are identical to what you might feel on any highway. If the turbulence gets rough, then it's like being on a boat.

The window seats have the best view, ( of course). Riding over the wing is the most stable, since that's the center of balance for the plane. The back is the bumpiest.

Try to get an aisle seat for longer rides, 'cause otherwise you'll have to try to sqeeeeeeze past your fellow passengers if you need to use the restroom.

Nervous? Take a couple of $$ and buy a shot of something to calm your nerves and enjoy the ride.

Its fun! ( Im an airforce brat, Im on planes often..lol)
The take off goes bye very quickly and your ears do some serious popping (with all the altitude changes n'stuff), but after that its smooth flying. Landing is a little bumpy and your ears start up the popping again, but its really no big deal. during the flight I always bring extra snacks and magazines and just pig out and read.

once you get to your seat and get comfortable, there's a lot of boring waiting so bring something to read. you have to wait for everyone else to get on... then you have to wait for the plane to back out of the spot it's in and slowly taxi to the run way.

then the take off... now that's exciting. you're just sitting there when all of a sudden, the engines roar, and it feels like you are catapulted forward, and the plane starts shaking and vibrating and within a few seconds you feel the plane lift up, and there's this feeling of weightlessness almost, and you are going up and up, and then you hear the wheels of the plane being put away, it makes a loud THUMP THUMP when they do that.

then there is turbulence! most of the flight will be smooth, but if there is turbulence things start shaking and bouncing, and sometimes the plane will drop and your stomach drops, it's great.

when you are about to land, it seems boring at first, you are just slowly going down and the ground keeps getting closer... BUT, when the wheels touch the ground there's a loud THUMP and you are jolted to a stop and the engines go into this reverse mode and make a very loud roaring noise, and again you are jostled around a little, it's great.

anyway, that's how I would explain it in my own words. I love plane rides lol.

It's nothing all that spectacular I suppose, I've only ever been on short trips from Canberra to Queensland (Australia) which is about an hour and a half each way.

It's a bit cramped (depending on what class you fly), if you dislike cramped spaces I would recommend first class because it gives you more leg room.

Turbulance makes it bumpy sometimes but nothing overly dramatic and the food is terrible.

Depending on what airline you go with they may have headphonees available so you can listen to the radio and there may be colouring books and pencils for children (although I heard somewhere that pencils have been banned because they are a safety hazard, not sure how true that is...).

You should go on a plane one day if you can, it's a good experience.

it's wonderful..once you've taken a plane you want go by bus again... if uou've been on a rolacoster , that's the best way to explain it ..the take off and landing ..it's nice

It is a great experience as long as you bring items to keep you occupied, electronic games, magazine, DVD player (don't forget headphones) and realize that you are going from point A to point B and usually there are 100 or more people on board with around 3 to 4 Flight Attendants. There may be rough air, keep your seat belt on, and you can feel stiff on long flights. It's hard to get up and walk around because the beverage service is completed with very heavy carts that have to be pushed and pulled out of the way. Usually no food service, just snacks, i.e.,chips, crackers, peanuts, granola bars, small cookies. Don't expect a lot of "comfort", impossible on an airplane unless your in First or Business class. Then it's fun to fly!

not much different than a bus or train , but a lot faster. It's the only way to travel long distances and safer also

once you get over the fact you're several thousand feet up in the air, it's pretty much like being in any other vehical or transportation device. you don't exactly FEEL like you're going 200 mph or something.
but, hey, maybe one day you'll want to give it a try.
