What is most important to you, when booking long-haul flights?

Please put in order of importance:
- Price
- Duration of flights
- Airline
- Departure/arrival times

1.
Mixture of price + departure/arrival times.

2.
Duration. All direct flights will be similar unless we are using intermediate hub.
We live in the middle of the UK. We will do anything to avoid using Heathrow which is a 2 hour drive for us. So if travelling eastwards we prefer to fly from local airport (Birmingham 20 minute drive and cheaper parking....) to mainly Frankfurt and then use Lufthansa to fly on. Waiting time there is usually no more than 2 hours so we would arrive at final destination at roughly the same time as going via Heathrow, and usually at lower cost and certainly less stress!

Airline is usually irrelevant, they are all very similarly poor quality!

If you are struggling to do this as cheaply as possible, price is your number one, but in order to get the best price you may need to accept a longer route, a couple of changes, and possibly longish times in transit (up to 6/7 hours). Cheap airlines are not always that good, but where long haul is concerned I have not run across one which is unacceptably bad. Perhaps I have been lucky, because I have heard horror tales from people who have travelled with China Air, Aeroflot and so on over the years.

If you can afford it, aim for a direct flight with a well-known airline (Singapore, Malaysian, Emirates, Delta, Northwest - all good). The flight durations won't then alter very much between one and the other.

Flight times are reasonably unimportant, though you don't want to be due to leave Heathrow at 7 am, meaning you have to be at the terminal at around 4 am. Similarly, you don't want to be arriving at your destination in the small hours of the morning.

- 1 Price, cheapest u can get
- 2 Airline, and choose good not popular ones.
- 3 Departure/arrival times, try not to choose earliest ones or most late ones
- 4 Duration of flights, needn't to worry and u just supposed to know that most long haul flight take over 5 hours.

It's quite hard to get this in 1st,2nd etc because they all are part of one..

These i consider first..
Departure/Arrival times
Airline

Then these..
Price
Duration

bluebell
Price - I want to be able to afford it
Departure/arrival times - particularly the waiting time between flight connections. I don't want to spend forever hanging about an airport
Airline - I want comfort and good service
Duration of flights - less important, as all flights to the same destination are of a very similar duration.

price- Duh!

departure/arrival times- I refuse to get up early when on vacation!

duration- If it's an early or late flight, I can nap, otherwise I can handle 3 or 4 hours with a novel.

1.Price = I'm always on a budget. and I found a good deal
2.Departure/ arrival times= being a woman, I make sure I arrive on my destination in a daylight. Same thing as departure.

3. Airline= i tend to try diff. airline & see from there.

4. Duration of flights= don't really mind. Most of the time I'm asleep or sometimes reading or listening.
