What is the best airline you have taken and kind of plane was it? Why? I am flying overseas any US city.?

Definitely it has to be Virgin Atlantic: Boeing 747

In 'Economy' seats(very roomy) it include a maximum seat pitch of 32" (depending on aircraft type). Inflight drinks are free and meals typically include ice-cream and a vegetarian option. It also pioneered seat-back personal TVs in all classes, and has begun upgrading its aircraft to an Audio/Video on Demand (AVOD) system called V:Port. The V:Port system offers a choice of approximately 58 full length feature films, 60 audio CDs, and around 200 hours of television shows. Also featured are video games, some of which can be played against other passengers.

Unlike some international carriers, Virgin also gives free personal amenity kits to passengers in all three classes, including items such as: toothbrush, pen, earplugs and eyemask.' This was a great help when you need to block out noise so that you can sleep and if you have to freshing up the next morning. Food are far better then that of the U.S. airlines.

The next best airline would have to be BA airline.

Definitely Lufthansa!!
They fly either Airbus 340 or Boeing 747 from the United States. Lufthansa has a reputation around the world, for being a top airline, for service, quality, food, and operating on time.

Personally, I would avoid ANY and ALL US carriers.

Lufthansa. It's the national carrier of Germany, so depending on your destination, you will have to connect in Germany. SwissInternational is also excellent, as with Lufthansa, since SwissIntl is the national carrier of Switzerland, depending on where you are going, you will have to connect via Zurich

Lufthansa or Thai Air Business Class. Eva Air Deluxe Economic Class for seating. Nipon Air or Singapore Air for food and service.

No doubt Delta. I am a private pilot and if I can't fly myself I fly Delta. They have the highest rating for Pilot training and the most total hour of flight time for cockpit crews. Their avg age of their aircraft is comparable with other carriers. A good second is Southwest. They have a wonderful way of doing business and no frills, which is refreshing. Still at Delta "We Love To Fly And It Shows" a past slogan of theirs.

KLM 747 from San Francisco to Amsterdam... long ago in 1980. It was best because they had a birthday cake for my little brother.

Next best was the British Airlines Concorde from Heathrow to New York... just because it was FAST !!
