People may scoff, but the only answer is Pittsburgh. It is a mid-sized city centered in a large metropolitan are. It has some of the top museums (Carnegie Institute, Science Center, and Warhol), cultural venues (7 full time theaters) a world renowned symphony, top schools (University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, Duquesne, etc.) and three pro sports teams, and more acreage of park space than any urban area.
The city is easily accessible, it has one of the top airports and is within 500 miles of 50% of the population of the entire country.
7 fortune 500 companies are headquartered in downtown.
The weather is never at an extreme, never too hot, never too cold. It does go through all four seasons.
Pittsburgh was rated as one of the smartest places to live because of the amenities and low housing costs. It's agreat place to live because anything you'd want to do is a short drive away. Those drives stay short because the traffic is not that of a city like NY or Los Angeles |

If you like sight seeing, this is where you need to go. If you like BIG museums and lots of artsy people, this is where you need to go. If you want somewhere cheap to stay...go somewhere else, its expensive! |
