Listen to your favorite music (mp3 player), keep yourself hydrated, bring your favorite book or magazines, visualize a peaceful calm flight with you relaxed in the passenger seat. |

Just keep repeating, "the pilot wants to get home too", Once you get this into your head you can relax and enjoy the scenery. |

I am the same way - Dramamine never helps me. I always take my iPod on the airplane and put a playlist on there of all really slow calming songs or jazz music. Close your eyes and listen to it as you're taking off. I pray too. Once when I was younger I was praying so hard and looked out the window and the clouds were in the shape of a hand holding up our airplane. I always imagine that too when we are taking off, that there is a big hand up there holding me up the whole way. |

Ask your doctor for some tranquilizers, explain why you need them. The doctor would prescribe enough for a round trip. You should take up hang gliding. That way you can stare your fear right back in the eye and watch it back down. Very empowering. |

you could try reading to get you mind off of it, tranqing yourself, or simply having someone by you to squeeze your hand. Flying really isn't that bad and its very safe.
oh yeah and don't forget to chew gum |

A couple of strong shots of Vodka with tonic water works wonders with me. I fly often- at least twice (return trip) every month.
Despite so much flying, the fear never really leaves me. |

whether its flying on a plane or any uncertain a circumstance....i've found that 'accumulating knowledge' is the most helpful....realizing that it is probably about reliquishing control, and confinement that are more troublesome. Its helpful to know the odds...tens of millions of people fly every day feeling similarly to you...and still arrive at their destination with no problems, the turbulence and air pockets that are experienced are physically unsettling but are actually an indication that you aircraft is cushioned between airstreams and will not fall out of the sky!
Choose an aisle seat...closer to the front for less discomfort,
stay away from caffeine and sugar...seek out chamomile tea and business travelers (their repeated adventures on a plane can be very reassuring. |

Give yourself a tranquilizer. Seriously.
You'll thank me later. |
