Use kayak.com, it'll hook you up with the airlines directly for the best available fares. Feel free to check travel agents but usually from my experience online/direct from the airline beats the agent's fares.

Buy far in advance, and try to schedule travel to/from on Tue/Wed/Thu, those are usually the cheapest travel days.

For a specific destination, you can go to any travel agent or broker whether online or on the high street. For a Round the World ticket, you're probably better of going to a travel agent. I've provided the website of the people I use.

It searches all of the travel websites, including airline websites. I have found numerous low fares and booked there.

the website www.travelzoo.com is wonderful because you only have to type in the info. once and it brings up tons of sites like travelocity etc.. you just click on and check the price and move on to the next one. I find that off hours ( like 1:00 am for ex.) are good times to check when the system has checked the flight status and changed the ticket prices.

I looked up my flights on a search engine, found the lowest price, then checked the actual airline for a lower price. Hopefully this will work for you. Best of wishes.

Not sure if you tried, but www.charterflights.co.uk tend to offer nice deals.. travelsupermaket.co.uk also offers some nice deals..
Traditional lastminute.com is still a reliable source...
book in advance, try to avoid weekends, and stay at least 5 days.. quick and few tips..

Printout a copy of the flight you want then call the rival airlines with similar flights and challenge them to better it.
