Airbus and Boeing are manufacturers. Boeing is an American mfg and Airbus is based out of France.

As a frequent flyer on US Airways I fly both on the Boeing 737 & 757 models, and the Airbus A319 and A320 models. I much prefer the Airbus models as I find the seats more comfortable.

Both are manufacturer of aircraft and they sell airplanes to airline. They both are not airline. Boeing is a US company, Airbus is European.

There is not much of a difference.
Boeing is a airplane making company bases in Seattle USA.
While Airbus is an airplane making company bases in France and owned by several European companies.
In the early days of Commercial Aviation Boeing dominated all the way into the 1990s. But in the mid 90s Airbus started getting very popular with there A320,A330,A340 aircraft. For a few years after 9/11 airbus was the leading commercial aircraft supplier in the world. however this has now changed Boeing not the leader once again as more and more airlines buy Boeing aircraft. Airbus has been having many internal problems lately with new aircraft pricing and lab our problems etc..
Both companies make good and safe airplanes.
Boeing new airplane is the 787 a medium sized long haul airplane which looks like it will be very successful while Airbus is using the A380 a Mega Huge Long Haul airplane. The A380 ran into a few problems and some airlines even can celled orders, the A380 is not the success airbus thought it would be. They are also planning on making the A350 which is just about the same thing the 787 is but an airbus.

Cynosure
Airbus and Boeing are two different aircraft manufacturers. Airbus makes aircrafts like A380 and Boeing makes aircrafts like 747, 787 and so on. At present the largest commercial aircraft is Airbus A380.
Boeing also manufactures fighter aircrafts.

Boeing is American and Airbus is European (manufactured in France, Germany and Sweeden I believe) . I think they each have their good points and bad points. Neither of them have a perfect track record for accidents or malfunctions. Their designs are different. I think some airlines prefer Airbus and some prefer boeing, some companies use both depending on the price of the aircraft and what their uses are.

The first thing I want to know when I travel is which aircraft will be used if it's not Boeing I won't go. Just too many safety issues with airbus, now with the new airbus A380 debarking 700 plus passengers, just how long of a wait this is going to be?

thinker
Boeing is an American company and Airbus is a consortium essentially between Britain & France as majority shareholders.

Each has many short & long haul models.

Boeing and Airbus use different engines makes and each model of their airplane has different features and fuel consumption efficiency ratios, therefore it is difficult to say which is better.

Airlines uses one against the others to negotiate for prices and almost all airlines buy aircarfts from both Boeing & Airbus.

Airlines, however, are different from these (Boeing / Airbus) two manufacturers.

Airlines are owned and operated either by a corporation or indirectly through full or part ownership by some governments.

Airlines, then, whether they are voted as best airlines etc etc each year is measured by their safety records, profitability, service quality levels, their load factor, extent of their flight destinations etc etc. This is voted yearly according to each category by travelers and measured by set standards and by class.

1 going up in business - Airbus
1 going a bit downward, now that it has a competitor - Boeing
