Just a note to Susie.....When people have to come off the aircraft it's usually due to weather and having to take on more fuel in order to make it through the weather. So maybe the weather changed somewhere between HI and CA and they decided they didn't need to take on the additional fuel.
My worse experience was a few months ago while attempting to land in Ft Lauderdale. While the plane was in desent we quickly shot up and to the right. Shortly after the Capt came on and apologized, saying their was a Southwest plane on the runway. Ok...on the second desent we did the same thing, this time the Capt never bothered to come on and explain, but needless to say by the time he attempted his third landing I had my head buried in my husbands arm.....btw, did I mention I work for the airline LOL :) |

The plane was struck by lightning and it was obvious that the pilots lost their instruments for a few minutes. |

One day after the bomb threat in London last summer I had a series of flights scheduled all the way from Istanbul to Guadalajara. The flight from Istanbul to Paris was fine but on Paris CDG we waited like for two hours on the terminal and two hours aboard the plane. We were like three hours delayed and finally we took off. We were flying to Atlanta and immediately after take off the tv's were turned on showing the flight route. The maps said that we were flying to New York and everyone was like WHAT THE HECK? Then the pilot said "Welcome to delta flight 28 non stop service to New York JFK". The first thought that came to my mind was like the aircraft was kidnapped. The flight attendants didnt even know what was going on. Then they told us that one of the piltos had gotten sick and they had to use the same pilot that flew the route ATL-CDG to fly this route and that he couldn't fly more than 7 hours so we had to land on NYC so that another pilto could board. On NYC they held us like one hour and police inspectors borded the aircraft. Obviously the pilot hadn't got sick. I got to ATL and lost the rest of my flights. It was reely scarry and take in count that I was only 14 years old at the time. |

I was flying from Fukaoka Japan to Seoul South Korea on All Nippon Airways (ANA). Instead of going to Seoul, seven members of the Japanese Red Army faction (Sekigunha) on the aircraft hijacked the plane and we went to Pyongyang, North Korea instead. |

Can't say I've ever had a scary experience on an airplane. A few challenging ones, but never scary. Then again, I fly them. |

You know, I've thought about this. I really don't think I've ever had a terrible experience. I love to fly. My father is a pilot. I guess I understand flying enough where the turbulence and stuff doesn't bother me. I'm pretty good in stressful situatons, anyway. |

I was in Hawaii and we were on the plane to come back home and we had taxied out to the runway. Then the captain came on and said we had to go back to the gate and have some people deplane cause we were to heavy to take off. When we got back to the gate however the captain came on again and said it was ok that everyone could stay on. That was the worse take off I've ever experienced. How could he be so sure we'd be ok taking off when prior he said we were too heavy. Granted Hawaii was hot that time I went and the heat and humidity has an effect on the planes function. But how could 20 minutes make a difference. I white knuckled it all the way back to L.A. |
