What is your absolute worst experience on an airplane?

Have you been sat in between two... less than skinny people on an 8 hour plane trip? Sat next to the bathroom? I'd love to hear your worst experience =)
Additional Details
mine is, we were going to Hawaii, and the plane was RIDDEN with tourists- it was the noisest, most rambunctious flight experience ever. The Indians in front of us weree the most annoying- the guy smelled like B.O, and we complained to the flight attendent, hoping that she could wave her magic fairy wand and make it go away, but she never did anything about it. There were about 7 of them. They had several loud children, and a baby, where halfway through, they took it to the bathroom to... oil him up. seriously. The grandpa came over with a newspaper and waved it all around the dad screaming "newspaper! NEWSPAPER!" and the guy was like "no! no!!!" and after 5 minutes of that, he took the newspaper. And a nerdy little boy went to the bathroom, and... after he came out, the flight attendants wrapped it up in caution tape.

once i was traveling with my2year old and my husband and we got stuck sitting next to a guy who had a broken arm so he had his shirt off and it was stinky. also on that flight there was no food and they only gave us orange juice and peanuts. that was british airways.
one time we were coming from new york to detroit and the pilot was drunk, walking around the cabin laughing and joking. when it came time to land, our wing almost touched the runway and flipped us over, we were teetering. i thought we were going to die. that was pan am
interesting question!

my worst experience was the lady in the row in front of me that had a kid that really needed his diaper changed. She actually set up the air jets to blow all the stink into the row behind her and this was a 4 hour flight. I was also on a flight where we sat there for 4 hours before takeoff for a broken part. The dirty diaper was way worse.

On a return flight from Hawaii(must be the place to go) There was a mentally challenged adult traveling alone. She never shut up!!! everyone in a 6 row radius tried to block her out, but she wouldn't allow it. As I was reading my book, she kept asking if I would give it to her. She was "begging" others for food and when they gave it to her she complained she didn't like it Wanted to switch seats with someone by a window, and complained loudly when the person said no. This kind of behavior lasted the entire 9.5 hours. To make matters worse, the airline ran out of food 3/4 through the plane. NO dinner for anyyone at the back. they had no snacks either. This was a major airline, not some discount carrier. There were aot of tired and cranky passengers dropped off at O'Hare att 4:00 am waiting for connecting flights.

Sat 2 hours in airplane when another blocked the only gate. They shut off the Air Conditioner. like flying in small
planes. However we all most got in to a mid air collision with atwin engine airplane he when over us by 20 ft.That was close.

one engine went out 10 minutes after take off and had to return for emergency landing and the runway was lined up with firetrucks , ambulances, scary!

I sat next to a man who must have been jacked out on speed because he would not shut up the entire flight. He was belligerent, arrogant, loud, obnoxious, impolite, and he had sweaty arms. The entire flight from NY to NC i kept thinking about how to avoid his sweat from ever touching any part of my body. And thinking that we were both in the very last seats on the plane , and if it crashed and we were the last remaining survivors, that I would go crazy listening to him rant about his absolute belief in NRA.

Flew on a small prop plane between Philadelphia and DC on possibly the windiest day ever. Everyone applauded when the plane landed. That was in March 1999 when I went to my sister's wedding.

It really wasn't my experience, but my mothers.
She had taken off from Hungary to come back to the United States. About ten or fifteen minutes into the flight, she looked out the window, and saw that one of the wings had caught on fire.
Instead of landing and endangering everyones life, the pilot had to fly around until all the engine fuel had been used up and then they were allowed to land. No one was given a different flight or time, my mother and the other passengers had to wait on the groud until they put out the fire, fixed the plane, and then had to get on it again to go to New York. Horrible!
I don't think the airline exists anymore, thank goodness.

They ran out of Scotch once, only half way to England. That certainly was not a good day.

Well, I have only been on a plane twice in my life. I have hearing problems and it hurt my ears to take off and off and on in the trip even though I was told to chew a lot of gum. I am scared to try a plane again as it makes my ears hurt. I would prefer a train or a bus or a car. The airplane thing is not my type of travel.
