Scotty Doesnt Know

What is your favorite domestic (US) airline? Why?

Please only answer if you've actually flown on the airline you're supporting in your answer.

My favorite is Midwest Airlines. Consistently rated the BEST domestic airline. Their signature service gives you first class seats (2 x 2 seating) throughout the entire plane, their flight attendants and gate agents are actually FRIENDLY, and they bake chocolate chip cookies on board.

Plus, I was recently in an auto accident while trying to get to the airport. I called them just to see if there were later flights to my destination. When I got to the airport, I was met by a Midwest agent who said, "Are you the one that was in the car accident?" I said yes, and they escorted me down through security and to the plane, which they had actually held for a few minutes over the departure time so I could make it.

I have logged over a million frequent flier miles between Delta, American (and its TWA predecessor) and US Airways. NONE of the Big Six airlines would have done any of that for me.

I like Southwest for the practical business reasons. They are economical and their on time percentage is commanding.

I like Southwest for the humor. They inject fun into their flights. When they prepare for landing they say "put your seats in the upright, most uncomfortable position". When they do the safety spiel and they tell you to put on your oxygen mask before assisting others they tell you "if you have 2 kids, choose the one you like better first". And my favorite was on a trip to Vegas, they handed over the public address system and let one of the passengers do karaoke (he sang Mack The Knife really well).

Quite Seriously, I like all of them the same BUT I HATE HATE HATE DELTA!

Continental Airlines is the best as far as service - they're always friendly and on time in my experience. The airlines I fly the most are American and USAirways, because they have nonstop flights to the most places I go. I fly at least weekly on the USAirways Shuttle between Boston-Washington DC, and they're always on time, extremely flexible about changing my ticket from one flight to another (on the Shuttle), and they're friendly and efficient.

The only airline I've had significant problems with is United. I've never flown United and NOT had my luggage get lost, and I've never seen a United flight attendant or reservations agent be friendly. Not to mention overflowing toilets, vomit in the seat pocket, and other unsanitary stuff that I won't mention.... So that's the one airline that's obviously NOT my favorite.

My preference is JetBlue...and I've flown every single domestic and several international airlines. JetBlue consistently has incredible customer service, above and beyond any of the big names who could care less.

I've flown only United Airlines domestically and internationally in the last 13 years. I fly every three to four weeks for at least 3,600 miles roundtrip. I rarely have problems with United. They have extensive routes and more direct flights out of major cities than any U.S. airline.
