What is your honest opinion?

As you may have guessed by my username I work as cabin crew / flight attendant / hostess, whatever you want to call them! I was just wondering what your opinion of our breed honestly is, and what made you draw that conclusion? Thanks x
Additional Details
Just to let you know guys, I am strictly short haul! No night stops or perks for me unfortunately!

I am also cabin crew, And reading some of these answers makes me furious, if any of the people who say we are glorified waitresses get on my flight BEWARE!! lets make them do all the exams we had to do shall we ?

I flew to France in May this year, and both on the way there and on the way back the flight attendants/cabin crew/host/ess were the best that I had ever come across, they were most helpful as there was a huge amount of turbulence and several people were panicking and they handled the situation with grace and ease. So there you have it, my honest opinion of your profession. Carry on the good work.

fantasia.
honest opinion from another airline person????? You all think too much of yourselves!!! The cockpit crew got their jobs through sheer hard work studying. The cabin crew are out to get what they can from shopping abroad and take home the freebies. I cant understand why you all think you are something special and turn your noses up at the passengers. Remember if it wasnt for the passengers no one in any airline would have a job in the industry. When one finds a geniunely nice cabin crew member one feels not only satisfied but really happy.

joby
You must have a screw loose to want to be an waitress in the sky!

Any cabin crew that i've been flying with work very hard and are nice. It's a job that i don't think would be easy to do, having to attend to some difficult people and all that walking around and being on your feet. They've all been nice though :-)

cricket
Most people that I have met that work in your field are really nice and bubbly, not anything like David Spade on SNL. (Buh-bye, buh-bye now) If you enjoy your field you shouldn't worry what others think about you.

generally i don't trust you with my life but i'm forced to if i want to fly. i think it's wrong that flight attendants are nearly all young and don't give the air of confidence or control that would be needed in an accident or crisis.

eireblood2
Your breed is human and you are earning a living just like in any other public service.
Have a safe flight.

Away With The Fairies
I think you're glorified waiters/waitresses. Hideous job. Clearing up other people's puke. YUK!!

I fly about 3 to 4 times a year ,and have never met an unhelpful one yet ,theyre usually lovely (on the plane) .However the ones ive met off duty seem to have a very high opinion of themselves, and are a bit stand offish.

ilessthanthreeyou
if you enjoy wut u do, don't worry. a majority of flight attendents i have been served by are very nice! but then again i mostly fly first class.

Norter
I think most of you are quite friendly and sweet. Also you're all good loking from my experience. Probably cause you look after yourselves and have very very likeable outfits. Would love to get to know a trollydolly....

Hi! I do not mean to cause offence - You - are probably a very nice person - but I will give you my opinion based on experiences on flights my family and I have from Glasgow to Spain - on average 4 times a year. They all back stab each other to see who can bonk the pilot & get the Long Haul flights to Exotic locations.. They get off on growling at hot under the collar male passengers when they catch them peeking up their skirt or down their strategicly unbuttoned blouse - it is a wonder there is not holes in the floor of the aircraft as they Strut up and down it - They are cheeky & forget that they are servants of paying passengers. What is even worse is the Gay Male attendents - the worst airline for that is easyjet .. they have that put on handbag voice and have that semen joop smell about them.. and the sucking a lemon smile. But lets be honest some of the female cabin crew are very attractive indeed ... a few bimbo's there too.. I wouldnt do your Job as it is becoming more dangerous with these terrorist threats.. But at the end of the day - we couldnt get on Holiday without you..

"I'm a flight attendant, Galley Goddess, Angel with wings, what ever you want to call it, and my Honest opinion of our profession, is one word {"Heavenly"}, of course we deal with some Real Retards and Jerks at times, but over ALL it's one of the funniest jobs out there.

Just think about it, we don't sit a some stupid desk All day with our Boss watching over our shoulders, listening (or) monitoring our calls, try to find a way to fire us. We meet interesting and diverse people on a daily basis with different backgrounds, and culture . Were accommodated with our own individual Hotel room in every city we layover in, we fly for free and so do "Our kids, parents and companions, we travel the world, we get pass privileges with other airlines, and we can fly as little or just the guarantee amount each month, and have a business on the side, if we want , we get that lovely Per Diem monthly that's Tax Free, etc.etc.etc. Need I say More...

I personally Love my job, and people in general, and would Never go back to a 9-5 EVER, not when I 'm making what they make with ALL the extra perks, who cares what everybody else thinks, if your like me your Loving Life Right About Now...

JR
I love working in the service industry, but I'm claustrophobic. No way coud I spend most of my life in a plane like that. Yikes! COuld I have a inger ale please? ;-)
