A passport for going out of the country. Birth certificate within the country. A lot of the airlines have their own additional requirements, best to call and confirm with them any other requirement.
Some info on TSA site.... http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/children/index.shtm#2
Tigers Gal!
probably just a birth cirtificate!
cng
a state id
or a school id
But I don't think either are required for children

i think just a birth certificate
but if you have a valid passport that would be best
my advice is to call the airport and ask them

Last year my family went on a trip. My sister, 14, didn't even need I.D. However, I believe the airlines recommended, just in case we hit any snags, to bring her school I.D. You don't need a passport if you are flying domestic.
The 9 year old probably doesn't have school I.D., so if you want to be safe, bring a birth certificate, but you more than likely don't need anything.
Have fun on the trip.

You definitely need a passport if your parents are rich. But I do not believe it's a requirement, especially when you're traveling with an adult (your parents).
