Depends on what you consider fun -

If you want to check out beaches, try Goa(west coast close to Bombay) or Kerala (south India) both have pristine, beautiful beaches.

If you want to check out Himalayas, go to Darjeeling - you can get to see Mt Everest on a clear sunny day.Or you can try the Valley of Flowers in Garhwal (Himalayas).

For some the beautiful deserts of Rajasthan are an attraction with its vibrant colours - for others they want to see Taj Mahal by moonlight.

Delhi is historical place - especially the Red Fort where the famous Peacock Throne once stood. Or go down south to Mysore to see Tipu Sultan's Golden Palace. In the east, you can either check out Konark the sun temple to marvel at its architechture or go further northeast to see Meghalaya and its six sisters (the seven states in NE India)

For fun night ife nothing can beat Bombay (Mumbai) if you are lucky you might spot a Bollywood movie star or two. Or to check the pub scene either Bangalore or Hyderabad are equally cool.

what is your idea of fun, clubbing?, site seeing? etc. If both then you want to be in Bombay if you want to go clubbing. Great night scene. For site seeing there is so much. Go to Agra to see the Taj Mahal, go to Rajastan to see all king/queens palaces. Check out http://www.tourisminindia.com/

I have visited India twice and the following I liked:

1. You will get the fun of getting various kind and tastes of foods.

2. Get to see so many historically important places.

3. Natural and also scenic beauty of many far away places.

4. People are more or less 'open' in behavior and styles in compare to other South Asian countries. It is fun to interact with common people as they also can speak fairly good English.

Watch out: There are lots of unscrupulous people who 'hunt' on tourists.
