The wings provide lift. The engine(s) provides the power for forward motion. The elevator (in the rear of the plane) points the nose of the plane up or down (or, to be more exact, it moves the tail of the airplane up or down). The rudder in the rear and the ailerons in the wings are used together to make the plane turn right or left. The flaps (in the back inner edge of the wing help the airplane fly at slower speed so it can land slower. Slats usually in the top of the wing flip up to slow down the airplane. The landing gear supports the airplane when the airplane is in the ground. |

All of them.
Wings for lift.
The body or fuselage for aerodynamics and storage.
Rudder for control along with stabilizers and ailerons.
Engines for thrust.
Everything else is there to make you comfotable so you will buy a ticket. |
