The less you bring the better. I flew from London to Canada right during the bottled water mess of August 2006, and the lack of carry on baggage was the best thing ever. Nobody getting up to reach for anything, people actually staying seated until the plane had docked, a general feeling of cleanness... Fantastic. |

I would recommend taking a few items to make your trip comfortable, while limiting what you bring with you to make the boarding process easy. The items that I enjoy having on a long haul flight are: slippers or extra socks (so that I can walk around the plane without my shoes), some reading material, an iPod or other entertainment, and food (depending upon the airline).
Another way to look at it is what the airlines provide to their first and business class passengers. Usually, the package includes small toiletries, slippers, eye shades and ear plugs. Depending upon the time of your flight, these are/are not helpful.
Enjoy your trip, |

You should perhaps look into what you can't take first of all cause it's very strict now.
I took my iPod on my last flight which was ok, plus the headphones (well one ear) worked in the adaptor on my chair so i could watch the movie and not have to pay for extra ear phones lol :p
Have fun in Vegas !

If you are by yourself:
-A magazine or book to read.
-MP3 player (that's a MUST!!!!)
-note pad and paper to doodle or write things
If you're not alone:
-all the above and
-a deck of cards
-note pad to play games with the other person
If anything, you might just fall asleep, and they might even play a movie so, you won't be THAT bored, maybe just uncomfortable.
regular stuff:
-advil
-lip balm
-hand cream
-extra pair of clothes in case your luggage gets lost or you don't get it on time OR if you spill anything on you like I did.
-snacks |

I always bring a neck cushion, a book to read, MP3 with a comfy headphone, and most importantly a handkerchief.
I always go to the bathroom first, soak the handkerchief and then hang it on the cup holder. The air is really dry inside the plane, so it is good to have something wet around you. It makes your nostril and throat less dry. Try to drink more water over juice, when they serve drinks.
Asking for a glass of wine when you have your meal will help you fall asleep. |

Just make sure that you can live for a day or two off of what you bring in your carry-on bag. If your checked bag gets away from you, you will be very happy that you did. |
