Do you have any hobbies that you can bring along? Maybe soduku or puzzle books like word finds, or crosswords? Sleep is good, but it can be hard to get comfortable on a plane. If those bore you...then try An MP3 player, laptop, and/ or Gameboy or PSP can be wonderful companions. (You can always borrow one from a friend...they even make movies you can watch made for them now! ) Cameras also...taking photos is a fun thing no matter where you are. You can listen to music on a CD player, or Reading can really pass the time if you like it. It is not a must though. Some people don't like to read much. Also even a portable DVD player. A movie, snack, and a nap, and you will be there. LOL Have a wonderful trip! |

Bring a travel pillow, iPod, and a good book. Remember to get up and stretch at least once during the flight. Drink water before the flight and during. |

Well first of all you need to be relaxed.
Wear light clothes, don't over close your shoes / belt.
Planes usually supply magazine which are usually old and boring. Get some fashion/lifestyle magazines that will make you feel better reading them.
Reading is a must in a plane.
But remember you cant just keep reading, if you have an mp3 player fill it with music, try calm music, no rock.
Take a camera with you, maybe cell phone with camera, take pictures, once i flew over the Alps and took some nice shots.
Don't be shy when starting a conversation with that someone seated next to you. Imagine your doing each other a favor by firing up a conversation.
Read, Talk, Listen to music, take pictures and dress in relaxing clothes.
You could also try sleeping but thats not very comfterbal. |

I can't sleep on a plane, so I thought I'd throw my 2 cents in. Take a good book. Go to half price books, find something small (easier to carry and lighter), and start it before you go so that you know you are into something you'll like. Also, take a favorite magazine to look at. Don't be tempted to read it ahead of time.
If you have an ipod, or can borrow one, load it up with movies or tv shows. (use JODIX software from www.download.com to convert about anything to ipod standards). If you can't get an ipod, at least find an mp3 player, and load it with music that you aren't already tired of. You could also take a small cd player, and get some audio-books to listen to. Turn them on, kick back w/ your eyes closed and enjoy.
Say hi to the person next to you. Regardless of what they look like (old, big, small, young, whatever), they might be very interesting. If they aren't, talk politely for a few minutes, then excuse yourself to your audio-book. HOWEVER - you might be in for a big surprise and maybe will end up talking for a couple of hours. I've had tons of great conversations on planes with nice people and all it took was a few words to get them to open up and start talking. Be sensitive to the fact that they may want to enjoy the time to think or may not be an open person, but if they seem to open up, talk away.
Good luck on your trip!

You could read, sleep, do puzzle books, write in a journal about your trip or anything that you felt like writting about, play with a PSP (or any other hand held game/s), or listen to a cd player. |

You could sleep, listen to music, watch a dvd or movie (if the plane has a dvd thingy or you have a portable one), mess with your cell phone (like play a game or something). That's basically it... |

I travel a lot for my company and I usually take a book, but it has to be something really interesting, I also bring a puzzle book like soduko, I also always carry my PSP which allows me to watch movies, play games, listen to music. However my favorite way to pass the time on the plane is to sleep. Enjoy the flight. |

read a book, sleep, play sudoku, get one of those travel board games like scrabble, make sure you walk around a bit and stretch, watch the inflight movie, relax and listen to music, or people watch (try and figure out what there going on a trip for or if its a vacation or business trip...etc). |

As a seasoned traveler would tell you..... get up and stretch every 2 hours. Drink lots of water to stay hydrated, as the air on a plane is very dry. Take your favorite snack foods because most airlines don't have much to offer these days. Take advantage of this time to read a book or magazine. Or, if available, rent a digiplayer with a nice selection of movies. Work a crossword puzzle or two. Hope for good seatmates and visit with them. Catch up on emails or letter writing. Snooze. Before you know it, you are there. Happy travels! |

Usually on flights that are long, they will show movies. The better planes have little t.v's in the head rest in the seat in front of you. You can listen to music, track the status of your flight and watch movies on these t.v.s. I usually read, watch a couple of movies, listen to music, and solve crossword puzzles or soduku. The best answer of them all: SLEEP! |

Me, I would bring a lot of books because I love to read. But if you don't you can always sleep, listen to music, talk to other passengers, the flight attendants, play cards, bring a portable DVD player. |

Whatever you do, do not talk to the person next to you for the entire flight.
Seriously,
A book, sleep, any music player are all good ideas. I find logic problems are also a good idea: sodoku, logic word problems, etc.
Good luck! |

VIDEO GAMES!! You will be playing for hours and not even realize it. I fly from ATL to Dublin twice a year and it is the most boring flight. I have a gameboy advanced and play Zelda and other "story themed" games. They also have earplugs so you don't have to listen to anyone if you don't want to. Disappear in your own little world. I never could read a book because of the engine hum and people always interrupting me. Frustrating. My answer is get yourself a game boy advanced or whatever genre of video gaming you like and sit back and the hours will fly by. :) |

Twiddle your thumbs forwards for a few hours, then backwards for a few hours. Then mix it up a bit and twiddle forwards and backwards in a alternating fashion. Take short breaks and remember to stretch. After you have done that for a while start counting any specs of lint you see on the floor. If the plane is lint free just count imaginary lint. |
