Little Madam

What should I wear on a long flight?

I'm a young woman. I'd like to look nice, but also there are comfort and safety aspects to consider.

Shoes that are fit for walking and loose, comfortable clothing. There is no reason you can't look nice and be comfortable at the same time.

Also take into consideration your destination - hot, cold etc and take a jacket if you consider it necessary as there is nothing worse than getting off a plane to be standing around in the cold freezing your behind off and vice-versa when it is warm and you extra layers on and are left hauling around your luggage and a jacket.

catwomanmeeeeow
Anything comfortable.
Cotton is best, because it's breatheable.
Pants/jeans/skirts--- it's up to you.
Don't wear pantyhose, though. I once saw a documentary about plane crashes that said never to wear hose--- they'll melt and fuse right into your skin.

Wear shoes that are comfortable. It can get cold during the flight, so take an extra sweater or jacket-- some flights run out of blankets quickly.

The most comfortable loose fitting clothing you have, also make sure to remove your shoes during the flight and get up and walk around as often as you can, drink lots of water, (not alcohol). make sure you have a cardigan or jumper to wear if it gets cold on the plane.

That depends on what you call a long flight and also where you are going.

Safety isn't really an issue - you could board an aircraft in mini-skirt and stilettos if you like, without compromising safety.

Think carefully about footwear; feet tend to swell on long flights, so it's best to avoid wearing tight shoes. If you do, DON'T take them off during the flight - you won't be able to get them on when you land.

Also think about where in the world you're going - you won't want to wear sweats if your destination is within 30°north of the equator - you'll be too hot when you arrive (eg Florida ranges from 20-30° north, with a typical daytime temperature of 21-25° C, at this time of year): The closer to the equator you get, the warmer it gets. Check the typical weather at your destination to be sure of what to expect.

Above all else, have a safe trip.

cubalishus
Wear some really comfy tracky bottoms and a t'shirt to travel in but have a change of clothes in your hand luggage to change into before you land, you will feel refreshed and glad you travelled in comfort, good luck.

a long frock

peach
dont wear tight jeans!
wear comfortable shoes and bring a warm zip cardigan. but dont dress too warmly!
also, try to limit the hand luggage. we had seven pieces to carry between three people last holiday, it was a nightmare. :[
pack your shoes in your suitcase.

a comfortable pair of trousers or jeans , it should not be too fitting as at times body swells a little bit at high altitudes.A equally comfortable top and dont forget a shawl or comforter , i dont want to scare by telling u horrid stories about airplane blankets. carry a jacket with u too .

Solusia
trousers, flat shoes, loose top, long-sleeved, extra layer/jacket,
You need to be comfortable - warm enough, cool enough. good luck. trouser suit may be good for you!

murphywingedspur
Obviously, something loose fitting and comfortable. Trousers are probably your best bet, A long sleeved jacket, over a short sleeved top ( this covers you for if it gets too warm/cool on the flight.) And choose something that doesn't crease too easily. Wear flattish shoes; something that can be slipped off easily...allowing for any swelling during the flight.

Definately sweats. There are some really cute ones out there. I get cold on planes so be sure to get a jacket with your sweats. Easy on/off shoes are helpful too.

duckyshe
pajama's

efes_haze
The most important thing is to wear those special travel socks to help avoid DVT.
They would look silly if you were wearing a skirt.

amanda c
hey, loose fitting clothes as everything swells up, especially your feet. so jeans (not skinny) loose top and really comfie shoes.

eg
Comfortable shooes and loose clothes, compression socks, a spare jumper (can get cold).

It really depends on your destination....

When you go to the USA or CANADA and other cold countries I'd Prefer you wear something to keep you warm but you should take them off during your flight inside the plane..

When you go to tropical countries like Philippines, Thailand, or Malaysia you can wear just a nice t-shirt or a jeans and a rubber shoes or something that will make you comfortable throughout the flight..

India and the MiddleEast a simple shirt and short pants and flip-flops can do cos its really hot when you arrive in there..

Like I said a while back you can just wear something that makes you comfortable throughout the flight and whatever you feel like to wear during your flight.
