It is boring even for a first timer... Nothing to be scared of.... u hardly notice the plane moving .......unless there is turbulence..... some people feel uneasy during take off n landing .... but no big deal actually

cubalishus
I was always too scared to get on a plane myself but my friend in Dublin was involved in a serious accident so to get to her I had no choice but to go on one, so wish I had done it years ago now because I feel I have wasted so many years by been too scared, honestly its absolutely fine on a plane, a bit like a big coach but with better toilets and food, don't be scared give it a go and I bet you will just love it too.

kendra_jean2001
haha this makes me giggle because I felt exactly the same way like 2 weeks ago and I flew from cali to korea almost a 13hr flight ....honestly...its okay...the hardest part for me was the take off because ur leaning back and the airplane is rocking some and theres tons of noise. BRING GUM AND CHEW IT trust me your ears will thank you especially during take off and landing because ur ears will pop and damn it hurts lol but you will be okay once you get level in the sky its pretty much like your sitting still.

THe way i discribe the take off is like being in a lift. You know when the lift goes up your head goes slightly light headed and dizzy. Like that. I was sat by the engines last time and that was noisy - a whoosing sound. Other than that, once your up in the air its fine.

Take some calms with you.

the take off is the scariest bit as you go from stand still to extremley fast in a split second but once that bit is over then its fine its just like sitting in a car only with less room to move!!

the food is mingin so always take your own

the drinks are expensive so stick to water (or take your own)

the hostesses are nice the majority of the time and depending on how far you going you get to see one the latest movies!

landing is not very nice as your ears pop due to the pressure just keep swallowing or suck a sweet and it wont hurt as much

the airport is good too coz you get dead excited!

I am a little scared too! I think everyone has a little apprehension taking off, but it is all good! I am flying tomorrow, with my dog too! We will be fine, safer than driving to the airport. I love flying, it means you are really going somewhere, the airport is full of people exploring the world, enjoy it!

Most of the time you can't even feel that you are moving. Take off and landing are not as bad as have been described in other answers. It is nothing like a roller coaster (unless it's a little kiddie one!). Turbulence can happen, but the plane is designed for it and pilots try to avoid it if they can. Think of it as a bumpy road in a car, the plane is not moving up and down nearly as much as you think, only a foot or two.
Go to the website listed. You can watch videos taking by passengers during take off and landing. That way you will know in advance what it looks and sounds like.

Don't be scared. My hubby wouldn't fly for 40 years, he was terrified at the thought. I finally booked a flight without telling him, so he had to go. he got a real shock, he said nothing like he expected, it is boring, just like travelling on a bus but without the stops and no scenery to look at. Now i can't keep him on the ground. He says he wishes now he'd flown years ago.
There are a few things that can make you nervous, such as turbulence, it can feel like the plane is dropping, but it is all under control and doesn't always happen, sometimes it can feel like the plane is shaking (like being blown about in a strong wind, but again it is all under control (like buses on a skid pan are in control) the pilots know what they are doing.
Not every ones ears pop when taking off and landing. Mine have never done, but my hubby's tend to pop and hurt a bit. But you can buy ear plugs specially for taking off and landing at the chemists, which help with the pressure problem. Some people don't like the food, but i have always enjoyed it apart from the odd flight.

being on a air plane is gd,especially wen u can get your phone out n record your landing on a beautiful caribbean island

A novelty the first few times, a little boring after that especially at night time. Of course there have been some disasters involving planes (just like any other mode of transportation) but the likelihood of being involved in one is far too small to spend time and energy worrying about in my opinion. Personally the only thing that worries me is the plane being delayed or cancelled, because that does happen quite often in my experience..

the first time I rode on an airplane and i was ALONE, meaning i don't know no one in the plane. it was evening though so I cannot see the beautiful spots, I only see many, small lights like christmas lights and their like all over the "floor" or the land and there are so many small lights. I seated at the first row in the plane and I was the only one in the first row so I can go to the window seat whenever I wanted to or go to the middle seat.

My seat is so cool 'coz when I went up the plane, I walk 5-6 steps and my seat is there and Im the only one in that row!

nothing different like a bus, except that you're flying...
my advice bring candy with you if you're planning to fly...
just to ease your ears...

scary at first.
boring after awhile . ^^

Very, very boring!
Getting onto the plane in the first place is a drag (you have to check in 2-3 hours before you even get to the Departure Lounge), you usually have long queues for the loo once on the plane, except for take off and landing, you don't see very much out of the window except sky and more sky, if you get a window seat you have to keep climbing over someone to get out; you get a numb bum!
Unless you travel Business or First Class, the food is pretty awful and you use plastic cutlery, with your elbows tucked into your sides because there is barely room to move.
When you reach your destination you walk forever to collect your baggage then wait forever for it to be delivered to your plane's carousel.
There is more likelihood that you will get killed on the road travelling to the airport than airborne.

Don't be scared, it's very much like a sitting on a bus.

Woodie.
I was always afraid to fly, until I paid to see inside a Concorde on static display at an airshow. After trying the seating and sampling an in-flight meal I couldn't wait to experience a flight.
Since then,I've flown all over the world and enjoyed it.I suggest trying a short domestic flight and see how you go,there's one up in the Orkneys that takes less than two minutes!

A bit like being on a train if you don't look out the window, but its not so bad, for me taking off is the worst part! I hate heights but I'm okay on airplanes after the initial bit.

You've got nothing to be scared of though! Alot of people who've never been on a plane before, actually quite like it when they're on it :)

I have no head for heights and people tell me to overcome fear you have to face it.

Smooth, but kills your eardrum when landing.

its really exciting!!!
but like when your about to take off your ears might close so you have to keep like trying to open you mouth like a bagillion times to like get your ears to open up.
being on an airplane is cool, and if your tierd then even when your sleeping the seats are comfy.
well that kinda depends if your sitting in buisness class or not
ahahahhahaah
well have a safe flight

the bright side of life
its way cool, you only feel when its taking off
and once you in the air , you fine.............
