Only American Airlines fly from Stansted to New York. Otherwise, Zoom (Gatwick) and Air India (Heathrow) are usually price-leaders on LON-NYC flights. These should help you track down the cheapest fare, and help you to book it: http://www.farecompare.com/search/year-homepage.html?destination=New%20York-All%20Airports,%20NY%20(NYC)&p=1&s=r&t=r&departure=London-All%20Airports,%20GB%20(LON)&type=homepage and http://www.cheapflights.co.uk/flights/New-York/London-Area/

Not too sure of the price but you could check out British Airways, sometimes they have some good deals. http://www.dealtaker.com/BritishAirways-coupon-code-a49-c.html

swimming IS the cheapest

Flights prices are going up due with the environmental issues going on now. The cheapest will be around £220 (excluding taxes and VAT). The best way is to google or yahoo : cheap flights from London to new york. To note: the cheapest flights will have no food or you would have to purchase it and there will be more than 1 stops.

I think easy jet is the best value wise
there are a lot of cheap flights but some are not so safe - as i found out by flying with Ryan air which the pilot decided to nearly crash onto the runway!
Not fun...at all

hope this helps
