Why doubt Qantas? Yes, they have had a few mishaps but you still have the same chance of crashing on Qantas as the chances are on Virgin, Jetstar and Tiger Airways.

I recently flew Qantas and it was the best flight ever. Service with a smile- when you want it (not like on the others where they hide for the whole flight), pilots that talk to you more than just 'good morning, enjoy your flight', and internationally recongized as one of the safest airlines in the world.

A Qantas plane has only every crashed once - On my birthday in 1999 in very bad weather in Bangkok. Only a few minor injuries were sustained and no one was in hospital for more than a week. No other major International airline that has been flying for more than 50 years can match that - Qantas has been going for more than 80!

I would definatly say QANTAS. why do you doubt it?

I would fly air new zealand, they have a good safety record. If you can`t fly direct, take a connecting flight out of new zealand to australia.
