This has to be one of the dumbest questions I have ever read.

Do you announce when you go to the bathroom. Of course not. Besides there is more than 1 pilot, duh!!!

lksproodle51
Why ? they have a co pilot to take over if they need to use the facilities.

ethansma24
No. This is not public information, it's private! The captain tells the F/As that they need a break, and one of the F/As must go into the cockpit when either the pilot or first officer come out of the cockpit. Like someone else said, there is a rule that there must be 2 people in the cockpit at all times when flying.

Are they supposed to also tell us if it is going to be #1 or #2? As others have stated, there are two pilots. Besides, what benefit would that knowledge be to you anyway?

No not really, they can always put it in auto pilot.

grumpy geezer
Would you really want all that information?

I didn't think so!

There are 2to4 pilots in passenger planes as per engine capacity of the plane. The absence of one pilot for a while does not matters.

No, they call the flight attendants on the pa system, privately, and tell them that he/she has to take a break. One flight attendant reports to the cockpit, and sits in the captains seat, for there is a rule that there always must be two cabin crew in the cockpit at all times.
