I think they do board from back to front. of all the times i've flown it has always been back to front. |

That would make more sense, I think they do it because that is the way they have done it. First Class passengers first etc... Maybe we should all write to the airlines to change this. |

On United, It goes First Class then seating area 1. This is the mileage plus people who in general do set more to the front of the airplane. Then seating area 2 which is the back window seats. 3 is the middle and 4 is the inside row seats. Does it work? I don't know. They have redone it several times in the years I've worked there and I can't see that it makes a big difference. Most of the time, it's a few people that hold up the whole airplane. |

I agree with Joey D.
I have flown around 15 times before.
4-5 times there was no seat allocation, so it depended on what time you checked in.
twice we didnt have an aerobridge, so we boarded on the tarmac, back people boarded at the back of the plane and the front people up front.
All the other times I have flown (in A320's, 737's and 747's), we have just randomly lined up and on the plane you go! |

Most airlines DO load back to front and also use some aort of windows before aisles planning.
HOWEVER, First class boards first. And then those with elite status on the airline. It is a way to reward those customers who do a LOT of business with them. I fly 80,000 miles a year and I appreciate that I get to board first and store my luggage since I spend over $15-20,000 a year on tickets. |

It depends on the airline. Delta boards by zones. Therefore different people sitting throughout the cabin will board at a time. That way it isn't everyone boarding at the same time who sits in a particular part of the aircraft.
Singapore Airlines and most others board back of the plane to front of the plane. Southwest boards by number so you can sit anywhere you want. Therefore most people probably end up choosing the seats up front. |

no, it's so everyone can put their baggage in the overhead compartments, and it helps with congestion. think about it |
