You will be allowed to listen to music up until take-off. Once your above a certain altitute (10,000 feet) u can play music again. When your close to landing, you will have to turn the music player off also, they will announce it on the plane. It is safe for your phone on flight-mode.

You are allowed to use electronic devices (ie. ipod) during take off and landings. The flight attendants will inform you when it is ok to use. As far as the phone yes it will be safe to be in flight-mode, that is why they have that option so you can use it during flight.

You can listen to music and you can turn on your phone but its useless because you cant even get service. You are moving at like 300 mph so constantly changing towers at 30,000 feet is not gonna work.

You can listen to music just like everyone else said. I have heard differently about airplane mode.
Last week I flew home on an NWA flight and the guy next to me had a PDA and he was playing solitare on it. The flight attendant yelled at him alot to turn it off.
I guess they are cracking down so if your relying on your phone for some type of entertainment I would say play it safe and bring a backup like a psp or somethng.

I fly NWA a lot i have an elite status account (100908261974) so i get upgraded to first for free. You will be allowed to listen to you music once you have reached a cruising attitude. Most airlines now days say no about phones. Hope this helps.

the cabin crew will tell you when to turn off electrical items.
most airlines wont allow phones on even in flight mode whilst take off an landing. but yes you will be able to listen to music while at full altitude
