When you fly, how do you pick the airline? Is it price or things like leg room?

I would rather fly standing up at a reasonable rate than pay an arm and a leg for some additional comfort. I mean please - it's more spacious than a car, you can bring your own food and entertainment. Price is the only factor worth looking at unless you prefer to not transfer or something, and transferring? Not that big a deal.

It's usually price, availability, and prestige of the company. I am short so leg room is never an issue for me. I am not going to fly with some company that I have never really heard of, so the reputation of the airline (or lack thereof) is also a consideration for me.

I look at two things when buying commericla air. Number one is how comforable the seats are. Leg room, recling, etc. But I usually look first for the flight that will get me where I need to go the fastest. Then, I look for the most comfortable plane with the best service.

Usually stick to FF program.
I am loyal to my airline of choice UA.

Actually, it is a skymiles thing for me, I have two credit cards that offer me great skymiles, and for each ticket I buy I get double sky miles, and one offers a free companion ticket etc... so it will be American or Delta..

Not the best answer, but there ya go...

Definitely by leg room because for tall people like me (i'm 6'3'), it's especially important to travel comfortably if you don't want any jet lags. I once flew Economy from San Francisco to Frankfurt, Germany on Lufthansa Boeing 747 and I'll say that it was one hell of a painstaking experience for me because I didn't really have any space to move around and all. But if the flight was from San Francisco to Los Angeles which is normally a hour worth of flight time, I would buy tickets for it according to lowest price. So it really varies based on each person and distance of travel.

i don't fly and never have because if there's ever a problem..you can't pull over to the side of the road and get out....

Its usually price. I mean, i'd love to go for something just for comfort or for the name... BUT for that you need money... Its alwys money...

That is really your decision. A few things should catch your eye. If you are only looking for price then the airline shouldnt matter. But if you are looking for perks, service, reliablity, a big name it all depends. For me I look at non-stop options and who is offering that service. There are certain airlines I refuse to fly, Southwest being #1 (I hate the cattle call and I HATE 737's). I worked for one (Delta) and Im biased, but after knowing what I know now, I want the quickest way to my destination with the best cost. I'm willing to spend an extra $200 just to get there on one plane.

Airplanes are cramped no matter what airline you book unless you get first class or the exit row. On long haul flights, its worth it too. Sometimes you can get a domestic first class ticket almost as much as coach or a little more if you book far enough in advance and can find or ask for the discount first class fare (they do exist). But as a whole, airfare now is cheaper than ever. Contrary to belief...10 and even 20 years ago you would NEVER imagine selling round trip for less than $300.

I don't fly Delta because the last three times I flew Delta we were delayed leaving the gate because they had to make emergency repairs on the plane.

If that wasn't a clear warning, I don't know what is.

Price is nice, but I go for name brand. Southwest, bad. Delta Good. Southwest=stranded in Reno, Delta=great flight to and from Vegas. You get what you pay for.
