When you travel do you buy food at the airport? |
With airlines cutting corners left and right, do you buy beverages and food at the airport past security? Some airlines even charge you for drinks.
Do you pay cash or credit/debit card?
I always pay cash. If your airline charges for sodas and only take credit cards onboard buying food and beverages at the airport is a good alternative to wanting to use cash.
What do you buy at the airport to bring onboard? I usually go to a deli and take my sandwhich through security and buy beverages at the airport.
Additional Details I try not to buy airport food if I can help it.
If I'm thirsty at the airport I bring an empty water bottle through security and fill it at the water fountain. |

Always eat at airport rest. before I fly (if long haul) as the food there even if not great better than plane food. Also take snacks esp if traveling with kids. Drinks is more difficult because of rules about the amount of liquid you're allowed to take, so usually leave that and either get free on plane or deal with the fact you gotta pay for it...... |

There is nothing wrong with airport food! If the answer above actually traveled, he would notice that these days, there are tons of chain fast food restaurants and other chains in airports. Are they super expensive? Not really. They're obviously going to be a bit more than normal because they have to pay airport fees and those are pricey.
But it's no more expensive than eating in the mall. Occasionally you will see an independent restaurant and it will be super high, but it's not the military here, the food is very good!
Try flying an airline like Southwest or jetBlue. They don't charge you for your onboard snacks and drinks. I wouldn't recommend filling up an empty water bottle unless it's one that's made to be re-filled. You can get really sick reusing water bottles if they are not washed really well.
All food places at the airport will accept credit/debit, cash, or anything else that they deem acceptable! |

I wouldn't buy a packaged refrigerated old sandwich for $10.50, but I would buy one slice of fresh cheese pizza for $2.00. I recently saw both items in the same terminal.
There are certain airports around the world I look forward to eating there, like this really great curry place in Singapore airport. |

only if I am short of time and couldn't fix myself a PB&J before I leave home, or stop at Subway on the way to the airport. Of course, if you get hungry in transit, you have no option..yes, I do the empty water bottle thing too. |

I fly about 20-25 weeks a year, so for better or worse, I get the full experience. Even in first class...not exactly all that great (anything less than 8 hours I'll just decline the meal; I'd rather wait and get something fresh and local where I land).
The food on offer at most airports...fast food. Meaning stuff you probably should avoid in the first place (loaded with preservatives, sugar, sodium; plus it's pre-packaged, frozen...etc.). It's marginally better than starvation. If I have to eat, I use a credit card (I travel abroad quite a bit) as it's just easier.
I'll usually buy a bottle of water but that's about it. |

Never. It is to expensive and mostly inedible. And the service???? Take my snacks with me from home. Even the beer is 3-4 times cheaper. Drink tea/coffee on the plane, gratis.
Peace. |

I usually make some sandwhiches at home, sometimes buy some other snacks, depending on the length of the flight. I'll buy a bottle of water or soda at the airport and just ask for a cup of ice on the plane it I need it. |

i always do. if i see a fast food type place we don't have in maine i'll get something there that is a vegetarian option. the washington dulles doesn't have many fast food places to choose from really so i get subway there. i have yet to bring my foo on the airplane yet usually i eat it at the airport while i people watch and enjoy the airport scenery. if it's breakfast time i get an iced caramel frap & blueberry muffin from starbucks. i don't think airport food is too expensive but compared to fast food places it is a tiny bit more expensive but fast food just isn't expensive. oh and since im only 19 i pay with cash. i agree with what tim said. |
