Where's the quietest place on an air plane in Economy class?
My family and I were choosing seats on the airplane and we were thinking of sitting in row 30 and 31, which is right beside the left wing on the Airbus 343.
My mom said it would be noisy, and she suggests sitting at the very back of the plane...
So, other than sitting in First and Business classes, where would be the quietest location on an air plane in Economy class?
I'm not sure where the quietest place is, there probably isn't one. But, it's safest to sit near the wings. Also, seats near the emergency exit are more comfortable because there is a lot more leg room.

I've gotten some great sleep in the overhead luggage compartment.

Buy noise reducing headphones. They work, and cancel out a lot of the engine noise. It also means you can hear the inflight entertainment.
In front of the engines is quietest. Over the wings is less bumpy in turbulence.

In terms of engine noise, it's pretty much all the same unless you're in First or Business class. In terms of noise from other passangers, the first couple rows in Economy class. Because they are closer to Business Class, air hostesses try to keep that area a bit more quieter so that customers in the Business Class are not disturbed. Also, you'll find most of the kids in the middle sections of Economy Class, so avoid if you can.

The seats behind the engine are louder and the ones in front are quieter.

Right at the back. Believe me, i flew allot to visit my x-girlfriend in Germany. The front is first class, behind that your near the middle and that means near the engines. The back is your best bet :-).

Where ever there are no kids seated and tell your wife there is no more noise by the wing than anywhere else on the plane.
If noise is such a big issue, invest in some ear plugs...
