Good suggestions so far. Bookingbuddy will check both Hotwire and Kayak for you.
There is no dedicated low-fare service between PHX, TUC and ORF. Adding PHF airport, about 25 miles north of Norfolk, might turn up something better. You're probably best to watch for sale fares, and you can make that easy by signing up for fare alerts to your email from http://www.smartertravel.com or http://www.orbitz.com
In the next 30 days, the cheapest is $295 roundtrip, all taxes included, on USAir PHX to PHF airport; Delta and Airtran are just $296. This fare requires 7 day advance purchase, and Saturday night stay. Cheapest to Norfolk next 30 days is $337 roundtrip. Best to book direct from the airlines, if you don't have time to wait for a better sale. http://www.usair.com
Using BookingBuddy to search Kayak, Hotwire, CheapOAir, and others did not turn up anything cheaper this time.
Southwest Air does serve Norfolk, but as is typical lately, they're actually higher than other airlines. AirTran serve PHF (Newport News-Williamsburg Airport) and they are the reason that fares are cheaper to that airport. |

As far as cheapest airline tickets, probably the airline's website directly is the best option. I fly a lot for work so I book a lot of travel. I always check expedia.com or orbitz.com or one of those sites, and see which airline has the cheapest flights. Then, I go to that airline's website and pick the exact same flights, and more than 99% of the time I get the exact same fare. Except, most of those websites charge a "booking fee" of $5 or more so it's actually cheaper through the airline. And many airlines guarantee that you will get the cheapest fare through their own website. I know American Airlines does this and probably most others do also.
Also, many of the "low-fare" airlines (Southwest, JetBlue) do not list their fares on those websites so you actually have to go to the airline's websites. However, most of the time I find those airlines to be at least as expensive as other airlines. Plus you might have to fly into an inconvenient airport that will add to your cost. |
