This question depends greatly on where you are traveling from and where you are traveling to...

For Europe try:

www.ryanair.com
www.easyjet.com
www.flyglobespan.com

FYI: many of these flights are from odd airports and do not fly to the city center. This is why the flights are cheep. You might have to spend $10 to $20 on bus or train transportation. The tax is what is the most expensive part of these tickets. Watch the taxes. Some flights will be $3.00 but the tax will be $15.00.

From the US:
good luck...once again the US is light years behind in flight ease and cell phones...
Give www.expedia.com a try though.

I hope these sites help you!

Good one is orbitz

Try www.cheapescapade.com. They are usually cheaper than the other travel search engines like expedia and orbitz.

I have always found that the airline's website has the cheapest fares. I fly a lot - between 80-100 times a year, usually for work. My strategy for finding the cheapest flight: I check websites like expedia.com or travelocity.com and then see which is the cheapest flight. Then I go to that airline's website, find the same flights, and every single time I get the exact same fare except without the "booking fee" ($5 or more) that these websites all charge. Most airlines also guarantee that they offer the cheapest fares only through their own website. Another thing to know is that the "low-fare" airlines such as Southwest or JetBlue show their fares ONLY on their own websites, so check those as well. Although those aren't always the cheapest options either - like I'm flying to Florida soon for vacation and it was a couple hundred dollars cheaper on USAirways than on JetBlue. So basically, shop around, but more than likely it will be the cheapest option to book through the airline's website. And the more flexible you can be, the better.... i.e., if you can be flexible about dates, times, or even if you fly into an alternate airport then it can make a huge difference in price. (Although as someone else said... it might not be worth it to fly out of an alternate airport. I live in Boston, and sometimes it is like $20 cheaper to fly out of Providence, RI which is an hour away, but it would cost me more than $20 extra to get to Providence).

The ABSOLUTE cheapest place is at the arrivals desk - used

babbles
priceline where you can bid on your ticket, but you have to accept the time of day they give you a flight. since you pay first, whatever they choose is the ticket you have to take. Hotels and car rentals are easier to bid on, because with a hotel you can say you want a 3 star hotel in this town...and if the bid is accepted, at least you get a 3 star hotel. Try iBtraveling.com to find some great deals on flights since they post a bunch of well known web sites and their deals. Good luck, hope this helps.
