National - the Metro runs right through the airport, saving you about $50 in cab fares. But don't call it "Reagan National" - most of us locals hate that!

THere is no perfect airport into DC.You have three choices (Reagan, BWI and Dulles) and each has a upside and downside. Reagan National airport (even though it is in Virginia) is the best for travelling since it is linked to the DC metro, which will is best means for transportation. Other the downside, it can be expensive if the flight is not booked early. BWI which is in Maryland (really close I promise) is cheaper than Reagan but you might have to get a cab to DC or take teh greenbelt bus to the greenbelt green line ( which is a part of the DC metro). Last and not least, Dulles. Also situated in Virginia, is not conveniently linked to the DC metro and requires a special Dulles bus to the DC metro's orange line. Well good luck and hope this helps.

There are none "in" DC. Reagan has Metro service so if you are going downtown it is convenient, but it is old and small and some find landing there a little nerve racking. You are not allowed to get up the last 30 minutes of the flight (unless they have changed that) and if you come in from the north you fly the "river route" that makes you think there is a bush-pilot up front.

If you are not going downtown, but driving west, then Dulles is next. You can get in and out of Dulles by taking the back roads through Leesburg, VA very quickly with not much congestion.

I go west but whether it is Dulles or BWI depends on flight times and prices. BWI is almost always the cheapest but is on the south side of Bal'more and you are stuck with I-95, BW-Parkway, etc traffic if going to DC.

Washington National is the best airport. It is centrally located and the Metro is attached to the airport. Though it is rather expensive to buy a ticket landing at that airport.

Baltimore Washington International using Southwest

Reagan. Its the only place you can catch the metro. Because it is closest to the District. Forget about BWI unless it way cheaper, because you WILL get stuck in traffic. Dulles is a no no as well. I am at work and I look out the window and watch the planes land all day long. It takes me an hour to get home from work eah day so I know for a fact that you don't want to fly into Dulles. Not if you are going to be staying in the District.

Well, Reagan National is located almost smack dab in the middle of DC, just between DC and Arlington, VA. Dulles and BWI are quite far away from downtown D.C. (I'd say 45 minutes to an hour), so you'd have to rent a car to get to D.C.

National if you don't have a car. It has the transportation lines. BWI or Dullas if you are going to rent one. Getting out of National by car is, um, difficult.

I heard that a while back some terrorists tried the White House and the Pentagon...but personally I would try the airport (you'll cause less trouble that way).
