hi there I work for BA and deal with 747's everyday. all airlines differ on configurations of their 747's ours the best is either 28bc or 28hj 29a or 29k or 28defg , 39acb/hjk or 40defg they are bulk head or exit positions and on certain flights the exits are in premium economy so if flying economy then either row 25 or 33 and row 40defg will be your best bet but look at the airlines seat map for the 747 and you will be able to check for yourself where u want to be seated. If you sit at a bulkhead or exit by the window dont expect to see anything from the window as the window is positioned slightly behind you also window seats at the wing all u will see is the wing and pretty much nothing else.
Hope this helps

Depends on what you mean by 'best'.

The safest (as in where your more likely to survive a crash) is as far back as possible next to the rear exit, that is based on actual statistics from crashes/incidents.
Second to that you want to above the wing area because it is the next area more structurally solid but air crashes are really extremely rare it'd be very bad luck to be involved on one.

As for comfort, it can depend on which airline as they can be fitted out to different specifications however ask for extra leg room/neet to the emergency exits.
The one time this doesn't work out if you sit on the seat right upto the exit door because the door it'self is really thick and cuts right into your leg/floor space.

Up frount can have first or business class, ask at the check-in for any chance of a upgrade as it's your birthday/wedding, etc. If it in't full there's a chance of getting it free, i have quite a few times.

on the wing, mind you hold on tight tho

In economy, either side of the plane, not in the long row in the middle.

Economy section: see if you can get a emergency exit seat.

First class: all seats are great but front is better

Nat
it depends, if your in economy class ask for the emergency exit seats because there is more leg room

I always ask to sit no more than 5 rows away from an exit and usually get it. Or say you have a dodgy stomach and can they put you close to a loo (save you having to wait for the trolleys to go up and down the aisle).

At the back because a plane has not yet reversed into a mountain.

near the fron entrance
just in front of the door
it may be crowded during boarding and disembarking but it has the mnost legroom
or ofc anywhere in business class

preferably inside ,not the front seat the driver sits there

In Economy try to get a window seat by an emergency door, failing that any seat in the same row. That gives maximum leg-room.

Next best is a window seat in the last but one row. The seats in the last row do not recline.

Window seats are preferred since you do not get disturbed by other passengers moving about.

Statistically the nearer the tail the better your chances in an accident. When an aircraft crashes the fuselage usually breaks at the trailing edge of the wing. The rear section contains no fuel tanks so you don't die in the fire.
