The tail section or by an emergency exit to be the first one out in the event of a crash landing. |

there isn't a safe seat when the plane is plummeting from 30,000ft in the air. |

The front tends to take the impact and therefore reduce the planes speed relative to the ground and then the tail tends to break away. In a number of accidents this has been the place passengers have survived in.
The other answers are correct to, in that the strongest place on the aircraft tends to be between the wings.
Knowing the safety card, where the exits are and all the emergency procedures is very important. The person who knows them and keeps their head has a much greater chance of survival. Passengers afraid of crashing are much more likely to get into trouble as they would almost certainly panic, try and hide or simply freeze.
Common sense says an aisle seat is probably safer than being trapped by the window as you can get up and move to the exit quicker.
Aircraft are so safe now that accidents are rare and usually down to countries with poor maintenance. I would guess that an air passenger probably has more chance of being hit by an asteroid than being involved in an air crash! |

most often when there is a airplane accident when the plane is in the air, It doesn't matter where you sit. In other instances you may want to sit in the exit rows. It is closes to the door and will allow you to evacuate the plane quickly. The other place to be is in the back of the plane if there is an exit there. |

I always try try to sit over the wings and near and exit row. |

It would be safer if you could sit facing backwards. Also it would be safer if the plane had no windows but the public would not find this acceptable. |

I have heard the tail is best since it would usually be the farthest away from the point of impact. I always try to sit in an exit row however since there is more leg room and I could get out quickly if need be. |

Well, I perfer not to sit between two giant fuel tanks, so I sit in the back of the plane in the very last row in the middle sit.
Firstly, when a plane impacts hard, ie crashes, all the sits usually break from their pinnings and slid forward. you don't want to be at the front or in the middle of that mess do ya?
Secondly, by sitting in the middle sit, you have "cushions" provided there are people sitting on either side of you. plus, if there is a breach in the skin of the plane, it is likely to only take out the guy or gall sitting in the window seat. |

wherever there's an emergency exit. i've always heard to sit in the middle of the plane where the wings are. |

I'm being a smart alec when I say this, but if you can get a seat in the same place that they keep the black box flight recorder, you're okay. Those things never seem to get destroyed. But really, there is no one place on an airplane that's any safer than the other. |

While no seat is safe in a plane crash, I've heard that the middle seats are safest - the ones right by the wing. I think those may be safer/more balanced mishaps that happen on or near the ground. |

I've heard the seats on top of the wheels in the middle of the plane. |
