Your in luck, I live in singapore and it's a great place to stop off, if your going on a holiday in Australia it will really start you holiday with a excitable bang! There are Major shopping roads like Orchard road which are brilliant, everything you could want. It's also really good because the Humidity make's it hot and i've been living here for 4 months now and i haven't got burnt once and I go swimming and play sport everyday! It's a lovely place to visit, no crime, no litter and nice people! I say 1-2 weeks at the most, you don't want to get bored of waiting to go to Australia do you:P? But do want enough time to explore. You can get around Singapore with Cheap Taxi's you can go to one end in singapore to an other in about an hour and it cost's about 60$ (£20). Hope This info helped! (p.s if you like mc donalds and kfc- there everywhere!!!)

People stop off in South East Asia, simply because it's en route. The more popular stopovers locations are Singapore (shouldn't need more than 3 days), Thailand (could stay there for a few weeks depending on what you want to see), Indonesia (again could stay there for a few weeks).

i takw it that you are going from London??

there are plently of places to stop!!

BA and Qantas stop in SIngapore, Hong Kong and sometimes Bangkok

Cathay Pacific through Hong Kong, JAL through Tokyo, Emirates throguh Dubai, Eitihad through Aby Darbi, Air New Zealand through Hong Kong or LA....if you want to something really crazy, you could fly ir Canada via Vancouver (one stop!)

and then of course, nearly forgot. Singapore Airlines through Singapore and Thai AIrways through Bangkok.

so many choices....pick one that you may want to spend a couple of days in and make the trip just a little more worth while.

Where are you flying from? FL heads west, so connects in Los Angeles, but anything across the Atlantic heads east.

If you're eastward bound then your options include Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Auckland (for some strange reason) and Dubai. My personal choice on that list would be the latter Dubai. It's a somewhat expensive stay, but there's interesting building projects and other developing sights to see.

BA used to stop in Bombay, but singapore is a great place to stop over, try to bring a headphone set as when you get to Oz the accents get to you after a couple of days!
