Where would you go?

If you could stay anywhere in the world for the rest of your life, where would you want to go?

I would go to Vancouver.

I actually grew up there. The weather is amazing. In the winter, it gets to about -5C and in the summer 25C. Not too hot, not too cold. You only need ONE wardrobe. You can wear summer clothes all year long.

If you are lucky, a little snow to please. If you are a snowbird, you can go up to whistler or the surrounding mountains to ski or board.

It does rain a bit, but really, everyone is in a car...so it dosne't really matter. Plus, Vancouver has been going through drought years... so not that much rain.

Vancouver Island is only a boat ride away.

The Seafood is incredible. You can go out to the dock and buy all types of seafood still live. I LOVE fresh shrimp...the frozen stuff just doesn't taste the same.

Shopping is great. There's Metrotown. Huge Mall. I've been to West Edmonton Mall (The biggest Mall in the world), other than the lack of amusement park and water park rides, the shopping in both malls are similar.

You can go downtown for trendy shops. The roads are for busses only. No cars are allowed in the shopping district downtown. Flowers line the streets. Great for photos and windowshopping if you can't afford anything.

Then there is Granville Island. You can shop there, get the best flowers. Go to a cafe.

If you like camping, there are a HUGE variety of campsites, provincial parks. My Favourite is Black Tusk... an exposed volcanic neck. The Hike and scenery is just amazing. (Bring a warm sleeping bag tho... the nights get really chilly).

You can go swimming on the beaches.... infact... there's a NUDE beach there.... nuf said

There's food from all ethnicities. There's a great indian district in Surrey ... and there's an italian district. Obviously the second biggest China Town in the world. If not, there's Richmond (which is really the REAL China Town). Recently, a huge rise in Korean Food (absolutely excellent). You can get african, mexican, french... and of course.. you good old McDonalds and Canadian/American Food.

Vancouver is a very multi-racial place. There's people from all over the world. You see people share their ethnicities and you are able to learn about them.

Vancouver is going to hold the 2010 Olympics.

The nightlife... Concerts, clubs, pubs, bars... comedy shows...Theatres... bubble tea... karaoke...

There's tons of festivals that go on. The NHL awards and Draft were just done in Vancouver. Lots of Big Big events.

The public transit is pretty good in Vancouver. I never really had too much trouble going to places i needed to go to. There's also the skytrain... our in-the-air subway system. Really cool.

Healthcare... only single tier. Everyone gets good Government Healthcare... you don't need additional insurance.

Industry... Vancouver is Thriving... with all types of jobs in every field. Pulp and Paper is a huge one along with being a port city.

People are environmentally conscious. There isn't too much garbage lying around. People recycle.

There's SOOOOOOOOOo much about Vancouver... I could be here all day. It's just such a wonderful place. I cannot wait to go back there to spend the rest of my life.

Sturbridge, Massachusetts, specifically the Walker Pond/Wells State Park area right on the water. It may not be heaven, but you can see it from there.

Personally, I love Maui!!! It's so relaxing there, and you have nearly constant sunshine, mild temps and parts like Kihei only get 8 inches of rainfall a year!!! The people are wonderful, the food is great, always something to do and the produce you can buy there... OMG... I've never seen or tasted anything so delicious. There is a tropical rainforest on the East side of Maui (Hana), you have the Haleakala Volcano (inactive) and TONS of hiking possibilities. They have a winery in Upcountry, they have surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, etc. The whales come down from Alaska every winter to mate and have babies, so you will always get a show from them in the winter. They have sugar plantations and pineapple groves and plenty of commercial excursions available day or night.

I could live and die in Maui... but everyone has their own taste.
Good luck discovering yours.

It all depends on money. With sufficient money London, England or San Francisco, California would be great. With tons of money it'd be a blast to live overlooking Central Park in NYC and travel a lot... oh yea...
