I know the Asian carriers make the flight attendants go through an extremely rigorous training class. Therefore they offer really good service. I also know that being a flight attendant in Asian countries is a respected position. The Asian carriers go through a very strict screening process so it is not easy to become a flight attendant there. Singapore and Cathay Pacific have always been ranked in the top 3 in terms of in-flight service. With Singapore Airlines I read the flight attendants are so well trained that they should be able to place a glass of wine on your fold-down table no matter how cluttered it is. Emirates is also a highly rated airline. There is always a debate between SIA and Emirates as to which airline offers better service.
British Airways and Virgin Atlantic are really good airlines in Europe and have been rated very high for service.
JAL and ANA (All Nippon Airways) also offer really good in-flight service. My dad has flown JAL and is really impressed with the way they treat their passengers.
Ultimately I would have to go with Singapore Airlines. My friend's dad works there and he also used to help train and select flight attendants. I also like how SIA has a very young fleet of aircraft and that they have a lot of in-flight entertainment activities on-board such as playing video games. |

They all are over priced and suck! really how can a average middleclass blue collar worker like my self afford 1000 plus dollars for a plane ticket. If i do fly I get it by way of AirTran six months in advance. So i say go with AirTran. |

I believe it would be a toss up between Qantas and Singapore Airways. But if I had to pick one it would be Singapore Airways.I would not give Jetstar the time of day,but believe that in Australia Virgin blue runs rings around Qantas and Jetstar's domestic service. |

anything is better than british airways. i got caught in the strike three years ago. we went on a cruise throughout scandanavia and we first flew into london. we sat at our gate and watched our flight scroll down the screen. we ended up getting the last hotel voucher after waiting for 4 hours in line with no help from anybody. this caused us to have to pay 800 dollars per ticket with a different airline because we couldn't get a flight from london to copenhagen for the next few days. it was horrible. we didn't have our baggage for the whole two week cruise. luckily we got all our money back but i still wouldn't trust them. their baggage and food people go on strike all the time. |

Maybe its the snob in me but I hate these cheap no frills airlines like Easyjet and Ryanair and jetblue etc,etc I just think once you get on board and you want a blanket to keep warm you have to pay $30 which is rediculous.
We are flying to Orlando next year and we're going with Virgin Atlantic we've traveled with them before and I have no complaints I really enjoyed traveling with them.
So I would say the best airlines in the world would:-
KLM: I have flown with them and they have a good reputation
Virgin Atlantic
Singapore Airlines because have a good reputation
Qantus same reason
United Airlines I have with them again no complaints
British Airways at a push if they don't lose your luggage for you or go on strike
Air France
Air Canada |

British Airways: lots of food and drink, lots of channels to watch (20+?), and great service. |

I've flown on all those airlines except for Jetstar and Qantas, I would say Singapore and Cathay Pacific are the two best, followed by Virgin,JAL and British Airways and United Airlines comes in last (in my book) of the one's you've listed. |
