Qantas is the safest statistically and Aer Lingus is second. EI have only ever lost one passenger carrying aircraft in their history. A Viscount OM believed to have been shot out of the sky about 1968 over the Irish Sea. But the accident investigation was inconclusive Put 'Viscount Tuskar St. Phelim' into Google for info.

As for the worst the EU has a black list of 57 airline companies which are banned from European airspace. You know now Go find

Queensland and northern territories air services may have the safest record to date. but the law of averages say they are overdue a unschedualed decent into terra firma, so be warned

batista_the_animal
The safety doesn't depend on the aircrafts always...when something goes wrong then it can go wrong which normally never happens..but you could say thesame thing about a car...that it can never mallfunction well actually it can and it's thesame with aircrafts

Quantas is the only major airline with a zero loss record of its aircraft!!!

H T5
the worst was Kamakaze airlines run by the Japanese government circa 1944-45.Very little chance of landing safely and a cheating way of fighting for your country.Arab fundamentalist terrorist groups like to fly this way,but the Japanese lost the war. There is a clue in there somewhere.

Definitely Qantas, I think it's the world' only major airline that never had a crash since it's formation in the early 1920s!
