Which airline should I take?

I am flying from Philadelphia to Germany in May to see my Grandparents and cannot decide which carrier to take. I don't have all of the money in the world and so far British Airways is the cheapest flight, I am scared they will lose my baggage though. I don't want to pay an extra 500$ just to get a flight that is non stop, I could use that money on my vacation. What airlines did you guys like that were reasonably priced. I know all the food will suck, it will be cramped, and there is no guarantee for movies, but at this point all I care about is getting there and my luggage as well. Thanks!

I took United Airlines last time and they were horrible.

Lufthansa has direct flight to Frankfurt, try that! oh well, Phil airport has very limited foreign airliens, avoid US airways though, theyre horrible! why dont you check out virgin atlantic, theyre having a good fare right now, so you can fly to German from another airport, then connecting from London to German, usually there are some cheap flgihts! good lcukk

If BA are the cheapest then go ahead and book it.
All airlines lose/delay bags, it's a chance you take with air travel.

US Airways is the only other airline that may have a non-stop flight to Germany but they have a high rate of mishandled baggage.

British Airways is decent and if they are the cheapest, I would prefer them over US Airways. See if Lufthansa has a flight into PHL. Lufthansa may be expensive though.

try USAirways, I do know that they have several nonstops to Frankfurt and Munich, its going to be pricey right now but keep checking weekly until you get the cheapest flight. I fly USAirways all the time and never had a bag come up missing.
You also might want to try going through Charlotte NC. on them, I do know they have nonstops to Frankfurt.

i took united airlines & continental airlines before they are good and reasonably priced. they have food, movies, & comfortable seats.

All airlines lose bags, but actually Terminal 5 where most of BA's flight through Heathrow go from is much better now than it was. It suffered from a bad couple of weeks to start off with.

If $500 is a lot of money to you then certainly go with BA.

if LH is too expensive, look on US or UA websites for flights which are operated by LH, maybe cheaper!

Also, to save $, maybe go thru consolidator...

or you might try Icelandair from Baltimore or JFK....

I hate United.

I just recently took American Airlines (September) and connected to London Heathrow on British Airways and I got all my luggage when I arrived in Lisbon. :) and also on the way home.

Virgin is good as well

BA cheapest? That would surprise me. You don't say where in Germany you're traveling to. Please add that and also dates.

I've found a direct flight in May Philadelphia-Frankfurt for 800 USD (Lufthansa). That is a pretty good deal. How much is BA?

I do like BA and use them a lot. Even in coach you get your own TV and "movies on demand". The food is good. What I dislike with BA is that it's very cramped in economy on the 747. You really want to get hold of an aisle seat so you can stretch your legs.

Additional details:

Well you are correct, BA is the cheapest alternative on those dates, about 1000 USD with all taxes. You can cut the price to 770 USD if going from New York with Virgin.
