Which airline ticket is better to purchase, an e-ticket or paper ticket?

I live in U.S. and am considering a trip to Europe.

For domestic travel - etickets are the way to go.

For international travel (especially to 3rd world countries) go with a paper ticket. Well worth the extra $10 the airline will charge you.

E-ticket, because there's nothing to lose. It's also cheaper for the company you are buying the ticket from because they don't have to pay to produce the paper ticket. Eventually that will make ticket prices cheaper.

We'll all have to face it. Someday e-tickets will be the only tickets. So get used to them.

e tickets. cost less, better for the economy since they aren't useing paper. and it's faster. plus you don't have to worry about loseing it like you do with a paper ticket

e-tickets are so much easier, and generally quicker. With e-tickets you don't have to wait in that LONG line to check in - just go straight to the kiosks!

People used to get paper tickets because they were supposedly easier to swap if there was some sort of problem or delay... my understanding is that this simply doesn't apply as often anymore. If you need to be put on another flight (say there is a weather delay) they go by fare codes now days, not by who has a paper ticket. (SEE ARTICLE BELOW) I am flying in May and I noticed on the USAirways website they charge $50 for a paper ticket! If you are only a few days from your flight they charge an additional $15 shipping.

Besides... if you have a paper ticket you would have a harder time changing seat assignments. I booked my flight in July and we leave in May and my flight number has changed 3 times since... so if I had a paper ticket the details would no longer be correct.

Most airlines have phased out paper tickets or they are charging for paper tickets under new policies put into place last year. There are only a few occasions that you still need a paper ticket; flying internationally sometimes, exchanging tickets if you are stranded or flying multiple carriers. Paper tickets are becoming a thing of the past because the cost of printing is so high.
E-tickets are simple, most of the airlines let you check in 24 hours early online, you can change seat assignments print boarding passes and save yourself a line at the airport. They are rather convenient as long as computers are running correctly.

e-ticket is better

E-ticket is cheaper because it takes less time to process and forward to the user.

E-tickets are pretty much the only way to go. Usually you have to pay an extra fee for them to mail you a paper ticket and it's not worth it. And when you book an e-ticket then they will email you an itinerary which you can print out if you want

think an e-ticket is more convenient.

E-tickets are the industry standard these days, and they are better for many reasons. The biggest reason is that you can't lose them. All you need is the number (or sometimes just your name) to retrieve the ticket record. The only time I'd recommend a paper ticket is if you were flying to a Third World destination where the inspectors might not be as familiar with electronic ticketing. For Europe, though, e-tickets are the way to go.

I like e-tickets because there is usually less waiting time.

E-ticket no matter where you are going. You don't have to worry about losing anything and you save the cost of the paper ticket. I have used e-tickets on international travel and have never had any problems.
