Which airlines would you recommend (I'm going overseas)? |
I'm going from Florida to The Netherlands. It'll be my first time going abroad, so if anyone can recommend some pretty good airlines (and possibly mention what makes them better) that'd be great! |

Emirates if possible. Their economy class is like everyone else's business class. |

KLM is by far the best choice. They have better in-flight service than most other carriers on the route but be prepared to eat all those packed Uncle Ben's food. The choice of entertainment (videos/ movies) on KLM is also fairly good. |

I typically try to avoid domestic US airlines, especially United and Northwest. (I have enough horror stories about both of these carriers to fill a small book.) On a recent trip to Europe (which was on US Airways because the company paying for the ticket insisted on it), the meal was inedible and the flight attendants invisible for most of the flight. I ended up eating some granola bars for dinner that I had packed in my carry-on bag.
My experience is that the flight attendants are friendlier and the service is often better on foreign airlines. It's too long of a flight to endure substandard service.
Air France and Lufthansa are both good. British Airways or KLM would be my second choices. |

I had a flight from NYC to Amsterdam this year with one connect in Dublin. My airline was Aer Lingus. It was a great experience. It took off at about 5 pm in NYC and at 11 am I was in Amsterdam. My friend came to pick me up and he lighted up a big fat cone right outside the airport. Basically you should just go to for the best deal, since all transcontinental planes nowadays are the same, so is their care for their clients. There is a nonstop flight by Martinair Holland from Miami to Amsterdam, it should be your cheapest deal, the price is $200 under what other companies want. You'll fly a Boeing 767-300 and the flight duration is only 9 hours. A one-way flight costs $811.40 as of July 20 2008. Book your flight at http://www.martinair.com/ Check out http://www.expedia.com to compare fares. Make sure you book tickets at least 10 to 15 days before your day of flight to get a better deal, also if your days of departing are flexible you can usually get a better deal. Have fun in the best city on this planet! You made the best choice choosing the Netherlands. Blaze on! |

I would suggest Northwest, but be prepared to fork over a few thousand dollars; same for United. Others might be American, or Delta. If you fly Delta, be prepared to get stuck in Atlanta for a few hours before you get to your destination. |

Most of the European airlines have better food, friendlier service, and better reliability (being on time more often and not losing your bags) than the American airlines. IMO Air France has the best food and alcohol, Virgin Atlantic the best in-flight entertainment (video games), and Lufthansa is the most reliable. But I wouldn't mind most of the major European airlines, and Iberia, SAS, KLM, Alitalia, or British Airways are certainly fine - I'd take any of those over any US carrier. But it's not a huge difference, and my personal priorities for a European flight are (1) to fly nonstop, and (2) the lowest price rather than which airline. The only really bad major European airlines are the Greek airline Olympic and the Russian airline Aeroflot. |

KLM is the Royal Dutch Airline. I've never personally flown on it, but I've seen an ad for their World Business class. It looks like a nice relaxing place to spend a couple hours. Also, Delta has a nice in-flight entertainment program with TVs at every seat and such, but that would have to be flying out of Atlanta. |

Preferably asian carriers are your best bet BUT there 's none flying out of Florida sooooo your only choice is KLM . Their service is much friendlier than our domestic carrier. |
