King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia is the largest in terms of land mass, some 81 square miles. Denver is second at 53 square miles.
If your talking passenger movement, Atlanta is the busiest in the world. They passed O'Hare in the late '90s. |

This is the type of question that has no definitive answer. Airports like city populations have many different standards of measurements.
If you are asking about the largest airport by land area then Changi airport might quliify as the largest.
Keep in mind that many airports have a lot of available and claimed land but not fully developed and claim that land space in reporting the size of the airport.
Some measurements are by how much runway and taxi way space, some are by terminal space.
Some measurements are a combination of available land, runway space and terminal space.
So to make claim as "the largest airport" is only as relevant as the consistancy of criteria in reporting.
But it would be difficult to say that Changi airport is not the current Number #1 airport in size. |
