Which country in the world has the safest airlines?

I'm not looking for a specific airlines name, I just want to know which country has the safest airlines. From what I know(or may be now I should say knew)the safest airline in the world was the North Korean airline...is the information still correct?I recently heard that Singapore has the safest airlines, but I think this information is incorrect.
So please answer my question!

I actually believe the United States has the safest record given that we probably have more flights per day versus those of other countries. I also know Qantas in Australia has never had an accident. I have not heard anything about North Korean Airlines so I cannot comment on their safety record.

Qantas is one of the safest airlines in the world with a record of zero fatalities in its many years of operation. However, one of its Boeing 747 was involved in an accident during a landing in Bangkok. Although there were no fatalities, the damage to the airplane was quite extensive. Instead of writing off the hull that would be cheaper, it appears that Qantas decided to repair the airplane to maintain a zero hull loss record!

Other far eastern airlines - All Nippon Airways, Air New Zealand,
Cathay Pacific Airways all have a rating under 1.

Singapore/Silk Air have a rating of 2

Most american airlines have a rating under 1. Southwest and American West are 0.

European airlines British Airways, Luthansa, SAS, British Midlands, Braathens SAFE, Alitalia, Iberia, Air France, are all rated under 1.

SouthAfrican is under 1, as is Mexicana.

By contrast Air Zimbabwe has a rating of 12.5 and Cubana 24!!!

as long as there are no hijacking or crashing, all airlines are safe.

What’s the safest airline in the world?

There's no question. It's El Al, Israel’s national airline.

What’s the safest airport? Ben Gurion, Israel’s international airport.

It's ironic, when you figure that Israeli aviation has been the single most desirable target for terrorists since the 1960s.

qatar airways has had no crashes.but they do not fly to the u.s yet.later this year they will though.on those nice airbus a340's

QANTAS has never had a fatality on its jetliners (something pointed out by Dustin Hoffman in the movie Rain Man). Singapore Airlines used to have such a record until a few years ago when a plane crashed on take-off in Taipei, Taiwan, during a typhoon. A number of passengers were killed. Singapore Airlines' subsidiary Silk Air also had a plane go down killing all on board during the late 1990s.

I would back QANTAS given the number of long haul international and domestic flights it undertakes.
