Of the ones you listed, I would choose Virgin. I've flown BA transatlantic, and it won't much special in my opinion; I thought the economy seat was very uncomfortable. Lingus is Ireland's airline, and do not fly nonstop to London; they connect via Dublin or Shannon, and I'd prefer non-stop on a relatively short trip (7 hours). Air India has a reputation; what I've read and heard from their passengers is more bad than good. I've always read and heard good reviews of Virgin's transatlantic product; their prices are usually good, they have seat back TVs for each passenger, and the service has a really good reputation. So, in order of most to least preferred: 1. Virgin, 2. American, 3. BA, 4. Lingus, 5. Air India.
A new airline on New York-London (Gatwick) is Zoom. They've got some really good fares, and I've read good comments about their transatlantic service to the UK from Canada. http://www.flyzoom.com -- just if you aren't aware of them. |

My favorite is Continental Don't be fooled it might look like they don't fly from New York to London but they really do. They fly from Liberty airport in Newark. They are my favorite for economy class airfare to London. |

I would say Jet Blue if possible. Even though they have gotten a lot of bad press lately.. they are definitly the most comfortable and very reliable |

I would say British Airways, the well-known national airline. Because you feel the bristish atmosphere the minute you step on the plane and the crew will treat you like "royalty". |
