By best seat, I'm assuming you mean "safest" and not a first class seat that doesn't face the bulkhead.

The safest seat in an airplane is a seat just in front of the wing. From an accident mechanics point of view, it may seem that the back seats are the safest, since they are typically furthest from the impact, but the area in front of the wings has the most structural integrity. In other words, it typically doesn't fall apart during a crash. Also, being in front of the wings, where the fuel is carried, helps protect passengers from exploding jet fuel. And, there are emergency exit rows over the wings which should be pretty accessible. The smartest thing to do when flying is to count how many rows you are from the emergency exit. The emergency lights only stay lit for 3 minutes following a crash. If you suddenly wake up in a post-crash scenario and the lights are already out, you will know which direction to crawl and how many seat backs to count to get to the exit - being less prepared than this will probably cost your life in an airplane accident.

Now, if you are wondering about comfort, the rows just before and just aft of the exit rows typically have less leg room to accommodate the extra leg room in the exit rows. Personally, I like the window seats, so I can lean over and sleep, but many people prefer the aisle, because they don't feel as cramped. But when your talking about comfort, First Class is the only way to fly!

Happy flying!

I travel over 120k per year and not always in the big seats. Really this depends on you.

I like the isles so it is easy to get up and stretch. If you can get the front bulk head isle just behind business class then no one will be in front of you. This is by far the best seat in economy class. Some people like the window so they can lean against it and sleep.

If you can get business or first class then really there is no issue. Again the best seat for me is the isle. In business class I do not like the bulk head because you have no storage on the floor in front of you.

First class is perfect regardless of the seat. Never go in the back of the plane in the center of a middle row.

I hope this is of some help.

The best seat is the one that you take off and land safely. If you like to watch the landscape as you fly, ask for a window seat. If the motion or heighth might scare you, ask for an aisle seat.

If you are a female, the window seat. You can view the landscape at take off and landing and the sky and clouds during the flight.
If you are a male, the aisle. You can view the pretty airhostesses at take off and landing and also during the flight.

I have travelled a lot and I love the window seat. That way you can put your head on the wall of the plane. You have onlyone person beside you. Downside is if you have to go tinkle you have to disturb everyone beside you..Not that I care though.

the seats over the wing are the least turbulant, and ask for the exit seat over the wing, you get more leg room!!

M e
It will depend on the plane itself but usually first rows of a section are bad.

Here's some more specific info:

An exit seat over the wing because you get more leg room.
