Which way can you fit more cloth in a Travel bag..........?

I have been travelling internationally for almost thirty years and have found that rolling my clothes not only saves alot of room but also helps to keep the majority of wrinkles out.

As far as a percentage of space saved I would have to guess that it saves about 25-30% of space.

Rolled, in a mesh case or compression bag (from magellans.com). You also have to remember how much your bag is allowed to weigh - no point in fitting more stuff in if it makes the bag become overweight.

Go to Target Department store and get a multi-pak of vacuum bags (3 bags different sizes in a pack) for about $20. You put clothen in as flat as you can. Then put the bag on a chair and sit on it to press out air. Then close the zip lock almost all the way and press more air out. Then close the bag all the way and nhold the zip closed and sit on it some more and more air comes out. Then starting with the zip-closed end, roll the bag some more and more air will come out. When you are done you will have saved 50% of your space. I do it all the time. Plus if/when the TSA (air police) open your bag there is less chance that they will lose/take anything and they will be able to clearly see what is in the bag.

The last time I traveled [went to Vegas], I took the advice I found after reading some of the articles at fodors.com. They're a travel site and have a few article about better packing. They show you how to pack right, so you can maximize space. Usually involves a combination of rolling and folding, along with jamming shoes in the corners.

All provide great tips, incluing putting you underwear in a see-through mesh bag, so if your bag has to be looked through, they won't have to handle your underwear.

Get them well ironed and folded up. Apply the iron on each dress while folded, then arrange them carefully in the bag. You can save up to 30% space this way.

Rolling up clothing is a GREAT space saver. I've managed to fit over a week's worth of clothing in a small (about the size of 2 purses) duffle bag doing this. Just make sure you roll them really, really tightly. Also, if you're packing shoes, stick your socks and underwear in those.

ask your self this. When you stack cans next to and beside each other. Is there space in between the cans. A flat item well fit right next to a flat but round always have space.
I travel all the time and always fold.
Pack small items it side the shoe. Take small amounts of items. You can get trail size of all personal daily use items.
Take things that can be wash and hung up to dry in the shower.
If your going to different areas, each day? Remember not many well know you wore something already in same week.

First answer is right as far as going. But once you take something out of the bag? How to you get a vacuum to seal again?

You can buy these Vacuum pack bags, the cheaper ones you just open the plug and roll up, the better one you attach you vacuum to and it sucks all the air out, you can pack at least 50% more clothing inside, and with all the air out it is lighter and your clothing is not wrinkled, I love em! Would not travel with out them!
