Who else would like to thank AirTran for removing a screaming child from a flight? |
Here's the story from GMA: http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/AmericanFamily/story?id=2815486&page=1
I have never heard of this airline, but kudos to them. I could argue that a screaming child is a distraction and therefore an (albiet veiled) threat to the security of the flight. Too bad most of these instances occur when the flight is already enroute and not much that can be done at that point... or is there? |

You've never heard of AirTran? Visit AirTran.com and learn . :-)
And any airline who did what they did deserves a medal.
Howver, they could have allowed the kid to travel in cargo... |

Yes.....and unruly kids and their parents should be removed from any public place where the kids are out of control...and the parents aren't doing anything to help the situation. |

I totally would. I think much, much more thought should be put into having children. So many times I have witnessed situations where someone with a child was completely oblivious to how they were inconveniencing someone else or being just flat out discourteous. For example, waiting to be seated at a popular restaurant where several people were standing, this family with children took up one whole bench with their bags of baby stuff and a carseat. No reason they couldn't put it on the floor. Or going to public places that are there for everyone's enjoyment (like the mall) and having to listen to screaming children who are running into people and who's parents either aren't paying any attention or who think their kids are so cute that it doesn't matter. I'm not down on kids. In fact, I'm very excited about having my own soon, but having kids doesn't mean you should get special treatment; children are work and do involve some sacrifice at times. Everyone deserves courtesy. Having a child should be a well thought through, planned decision. A person doesn't HAVE to be pregnant. So people should understand the responsibility that's involved and that can include putting your child's needs before your own, teaching your child to be considerate of others and altering your life/surroundings to accommodate your child. I wouldn't go to Chuck E. Cheese and get frustrated because kids were running around and screaming. Chuck E. Cheese is a venue just for kids. The whole world doesn't need to cater to your children, it's just not realistic. If someone with children visits my home, I would hope they would be well behaved, but if I went to their house (knowing they have kids) I would be more understanding that it's a household with children. When I am a parent, I plan to be conscientious. I'm not going to put my children on other people, especially those who have chosen to not have children. A similar analogy would be smoking. People choose to smoke or not to smoke, but just don't make someone else put up with it. |

I totally applaude them. They did the right thing. The child was being obnoxious and they were complying with FAA rules. I have flown Air Tran before and really enjoyed it. I think the danger to the flight they were eluding to is the fact that they could not take off with out the child being seated and wearing a seat belt, which she was refusing to do. |

I would like to thank AirTran for a job well done. I want to fly on a quiet plane. If idiot parents are not going to quiet their kids, then they should be escorted off the plane. |

Hell, let kids cry and scream all they want. In fact, it kind of puts a smile on my face - because I know that it isn't MY child that is screaming & crying.
Also - maybe if fellow travelers were just a bit more courtious towards each other - traveling would be MUCH easier. Flight after flight I see people being rude to the gate agents, to flight attendants, other travelers, etc.
Help the lady out that has a baby. Take a smaller carry-on to leave room in the overhead bins. Check your bags through - the airlines will not lose them. |
