I don't understand why that is crazy. You should continue doing it, the people in charge of that plane feel good when you applaude them. That is very nice. |

Whenever I fly somewhere and I get back I always KISS the ground. |

Many moons ago, when air travel was unique or not such an everyday thing. Many people were afraid to fly and they were happy when the plane landed. It is a rare thing these days and normally involves unseasoned passengers. |

Many times. I'm surprised so many people have never done it. However, most of the flights I've been on, the applause came right after a smooth landing, making it seem the appplause was only for the pilot's skill. It would be nicer if people applauded after the crew leader's thank you speech 'cos that way the applause goes to the whole crew. |

Thats a really nice thing to do. :)
People use to applaud in the movie theaters after the movie was over and they also use to sing the national anthem befor the movie started. |

Hmmm... I'm curious to see if they clap now when I fly to England in June. I think it sounds nice, I know I'm going to be excited to finally land safely! |

I have. And it is a significance of thanks to the pilot and crew, like you said. |

Yea i never understood this either, but i guess its better than when people clap at the end of a movie, when i usually scream, "its not a play, they cant hear you."
but i think it makes sense to clap on a plane at the end of the flight, for the same reasons you described. Even if the ride was bumpy or something could have happened, you made it. Maybe its like a sort of anxiety releaser or like therapeutic way to accept that you were thousands of feet in the air and something could have gone terribly wrong, but you made it. |

It's a nice gesture. Keep it up. |

i've never heard clapping on any domestic flight i've taken but mostly on every international flight (overseas that is) people have always clapped on landing. |

I've went along with it before but it's not done on every flight. It's a nice gesture and it shows that the passengers are thankful for landing safely and for the pilot and crew doing a good job. Clapping or not, I always thank the pilot when exiting the plane. |

I've never done that but that's relay cool! |

(claps hands) You do your thing chicken wing!
That is ausome that you count your blessing and are appreciative for something that most people take for granted. You are a pilot's dream of a passenger. |

Yeah I was on an evacuation flight from Cancun to Vancouver in the summer when we were fleeing a hurricane, and we clapped when we landed because the pilot and crew did a great job. |

I would not say that was weird, but then again I just like to applaud for any good, well not always good, reason. |

people applaud every successful landing regardless of where its coming from...they clap because they know that there not gonna die from a plane crash. |

applauding the fact that the pilot and crew did their jobs? Sounds ok to me. Maybe a thank you as you exit the plane would do and would seem less unorthodox. |
