Its a pain isn't it. Mine needs renewing and a relative has told me that a Doctor will charge you for countersigning (what a rip-off that is if true).
Last time I got a Local Government Councillor to sign mine. Good luck with it. |

Amazingly there is a list with your passport application of who can countersign the photo. All the answers given so far are good- and yeah the majority of doctors will charge for the privillege of signing it.
Whoever signs it for you, please make sure they do give their correct details- the passport office can and do check that the countersigner is real and entitled to sign it :) |

Doctors can do but they usually charge a fee. But if you dont know anyone else try them!
If you have problems then call the passport office as they can advise as well
Best of luck. |

Most doctors won't do this, fee or not.
As someone suggested, your local publican (if you're a regular) as they have to be of good character to have a licence.
Nurse, teacher, clergyman that sort of thing. They have had to have known you for at least two years. |

Could be your doctor or dentist (only the most cheeky would charge) a teacher, or civil servant (which needn't be a Whitehall Mandarin - could be the clerk at your local tax office if you know them) |
