Why do air cabin crew always put 'at all' on the end of their sentences?

Would you like any more wine, at all?
Can I get you anything, at all?
Would you like breakfast, at all?

etc.etc.

is it in their training?

I notice they are fond of the verb to "pop" as well. Pop your seat forward, pop that bag in the overhead locker, pop this in your mouth, pop your seatbelt on etc.

Lets not be too harsh on these ladies. Their MAIN responsibility is in an emergency evacuation. In 90 seconds, they could save your life. I object strongly to the term Trolley Dolly.

I just wish they would ask "would you like another whisky at all" a bit more often.

lol!!! They wnat to teahc the air staff to be more polite.

I call them the trolley dollies! You get these blokes swivelling their hips as they sashy down the aisle.

Probably because the at all crew involved at all are stupid Americans at all.

Are you flying Aer Lingus, "Do you wanr anutter cup o' tea Sor or a Guiness at at all"

I think we all have personal speaking habits and phrases which we use often, but they change or are aquired bt constant listening to them. it can start off as an "In joke" and before anyone realises it it becomes a habit.

1.Coz they want to save money for their company that's why they ask "at all" it's mean that if they are asking for the last option at all, for ex- would you like to have some wine at all(if you desperately want that only than they will serve you )

2. Perhaps they are not very gud in English...

Angel ! in Silver !!
never heard anyone do this,,,which airline was it...she was just trying to be helpful,,,theres no pleasing everyone,,,

it's possible that it is in their training, when I was a waitress, the boss wanted us to say special sentences, that would convince customers to answer yes.

I was a Flight Attendant for 13 years, for two companies and am not familiar with this expression.

The only time I can see it used is if the question were really general, for example if a passenger came into the galley looking really lost but like he wanted something.

The "at all" could just be covering whatever else is available, so as to not have to list ALL the drinks. Also, it could be to cover a larger time frame, hinting that this is the last time the carts are coming down the aisle until arrival. i.e. "If you want anything AT ALL (before we put the carts away)"...

We were big on the future tense. "Will you be needing anything..." to hint that now's the best time to make requests. Once the lights go off, the crew start their breaks and the passengers fall asleep, it's trickier but still possible. Or on landing, we had to put everything away and last minute requests sometimes had to be turned down.

My pet peeve was "at". Where's the milk AT? Ugh. I put a passenger's bag away and she asked where her bag was at. I told her "It's at this overhead bin" and pointed. Sorry, but I had to...

Some of my coworkers hated the word "plate" used as a verb. When we transferred food from the aluminum containers, we "plated" it.

Also "deplaned". I really tried to use "disembark" but sometimes it slipped out anyway.
