LOL
you got it in a nutshell
I have travelled round countries for a month at a time and when I come back to the UK customs always look at my shoulder bag and query how I can spend a month with "no luggage"
I hope you are in front of me in the queue next time I travel

God only knows. Every Time I have gone a way, I end up buying a couple of skirts there for £1 use 2 vest tops a day. 2 for £3 at ASDA. Two bikinis, wash them in shower while wearing them. Let hair dry naturally with nothing on it. Pair gold flip flops 1 dressy shoe. 1 pair of jeans. One light coat or cardigan. 2 bra's, if I choose to wear one. Knickers for each evening. I take shampoo, but only an inch & a half tall. (have you seen the price of this stuff abroad)? Sorted. These people come back with all their stuff unused. Their problem. Ha. |

Maybe they think Spanish shampoo is inferior!
I agree with you - these people are a pain. I often stand in a 'check-in' queue and wonder, 'What the hell are they doing?' as they try to check in numerous cases. They could reduce flight prices and give zero luggage allowance and then you pay for what you take - that might reduce the number of sweaters when going to Spain in the summer from 7 - 1 - just in case there is a chilly night. |

I noticed the last time I flew - it's amazing how much room shoes took up in my suitcase. I have fairly large feet - I wear a men's size 13 shoe - and even if I bring one extra pair (like I have a pair of sneakers and a pair of dress shoes, one I'm wearing the other I pack) - it takes up a significant amount of space. I have a small suitcase to fit in the overhead bin, or a garment bag, and for me, just one pair of shoes can take up considerable space. And when I go to visit people I always bring a gift like a bottle of wine usually and that takes up space also.
Other than that I dunno... haha. I travel constantly so I travel fairly lightly. I've never had my checked luggage go over the weight limit. My briefcase is usually pretty big though since I have my laptop, palm pilot, and other materials for meetings or conferences when I travel for work. |

Yeh very very true, i get ALLOT of visitors from abroad and they always bring soooo much luggage which is unnecessary. They mostly bring alot of extra clothes with them for warm weather and cold weather. Just incase it rains they have a sweater or the sun comes out they can change in their fav t shirt and all there other 100's. I mostly bring one small suitcase and try not to bring hand luggage, because am very forgetful so its just better for me to travel with a passport and nothing else! but not everyone is like me and need allot more to "Survive". |

Yes they sell shampoo here ( lol).. And alot of people take everything with them on long trips to find out that not only do they NOT need everything that they bought but don´t have enough space to bring everything they buy...
I agree, I travel alot too and often see people with Loads of luggage... But oh well maybe they will learn , that when you travel abroad the less you take, the more room you have for the shopping that you plan to do.. ( hehe)..... Happy Travels!
Take care!

Indeed.
It is far more economical to buy stuff from markets abroads, than pay excess baggage charge.
Besides, most places are pretty casual now, so a pair of shorts, jeans and a few t-shirts will suffice. |

Well, many people do not pay attention to the size or weight limits because they feel they have special circumstances that do not apply to them. However, as you have stated, it makes for an uncomfortable situation when the airline ticketing agent has to ask them to rearrange their suitcases to meet the weight limit, or leave something behind.
It is true that many people are only travelling for a few weeks at a time, but it is human nature to want to bring all the things along that we are familiar with, for fear that we may have to use something different that we may not care for.
I think if people would really evaluate what is TRULY essential, and only pack what they actually need, there would be less problems, and checking in and out would be much quicker for everyone. |

I agree - I went away abroad recently and only took 11 kg - and I still had more clothes than I could wear!!! |

I usually travel light especially if I am travelling to a warm climate. One change of cloths and that's it. I usually have one small bag that I just carry onto the plane. However, I am currently returning from a two year trip to Taiwan, and other parts of Asia. This time I have extra bags and they all weigh a tonne. I could not imagine travelling like this normally-it's hard work! |

I know exactly what u mean!!!! Im ground staff at Bristol Airport an sitting on check-in the size ofthe bags are ridiculous! U think the brits are bad though-its the spanish!!! I often ask people whattheyve got in there especially if i can see that they are going for a week and i usually getan answer like "clothes" and they look at me like im asking a reallystupid answer!!! But I have to laugh when the people goingfor a week with a 29 kilo suitcase end up having to pay about £60 to take it as they are over their allownace!!! lolthat should teach them-but it never does!!!! |

Maybe they feel their possesions mean more than your's and mine. I mean really..... I just love it when they jam it into the overhead compartments, and smack you with it on the way down the aisle! |

Maybe that person who is carrying all that luggage is moving to there, or is visiting relatives and is taking stuff to them, or simply because they want their certain kind of shampoo that might not be sold where they are going. Other stuff might be business related, maybe they need to take some stuff with them for business. Unless you know what that person is travelling for, everyone assumes they are just visiting for a week or two, but really, they could be moving there, or something else.
Usually when I travel, I have to take a bunch of crap with me, for my protection to where I am going. |
